DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged on April 5
Wednesday, April 5,2023AsemconnectVietnam - On Wednesday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND63,000 – 65,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND65,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND63,000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND65,000 per kilogram, Dong Nai province for VND63,500 per kilogram and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND64,000 per kilogram.
Experts said that the pepper market has been quite stable over the past time and the transaction volume is not much. Currently, farmers and traders continue to hoard and do not offer to sell when pepper prices are adjusted down.
Importers have shown signs of increasing purchases with long distance orders in the third and fourth quarters of 2023. However, manufacturers and exporters are very cautious, rarely offering long distance orders due to the forecast of an uptrend in the coming time.
According to preliminary statistics, Vietnam's pepper exports in March 2023 are forecast at 36,000 tonnes. Of which, China has imported over 14,000 tonnes.
Vietnam's total pepper exports in 3 months reached more than 76,000 tonnes, up 40% compared to the first 3 months of 2022 (54,615 tonnes) and up 23% compared to the first 3 months of 2021 (61,584 tonnes).
For the domestic market, the upward momentum has not yet returned due to the weak speculative buying force, while new crops have been released to the market. The new harvest almost ended in many localities with the output not as expected.
Pepper production in this year's crop was recorded to increase in some key provinces such as Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Dak Nong. However, these are areas where pepper is grown organically, or carefully cared for over the years. Most of the remaining areas have low productivity such as Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria...
