Imports of computers and electronics components increased

AsemconnectVietnam - After leading the import turnover in June of 2019, in July of 2019, the imports of computers, electronic products and components continued to stand high at 4.3 billion USD, accounting for 19.19 per cent of the total import value of the country.

The figure brought the country’s import value of this commodity group from the beginning of the year to the end of July 2019 to 28.2 billion USD, increasing by 19 per cent compared to the first 7 months of 2018, according to the estimate of the General Statistics Office.
Earlier, according to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, the country’s imports of computers, electronic products and components in June of 2019 reached 3.82 billion USD, down by 1.18 per cent compared to May of 2019. In the first 6 months of 2019, the figure was 23.9 billion USD, up by 18.9 per cent compared to the first 6 months of 2018 - this is also the leading item in the ranking of import value in the first 6 months of 2019.

Among the leading import markets of computers, electronic products and components of Vietnam in the first 6 months of this year, South Korea accounted for the highest proportion of 36 per cent with 8.61 billion USD, increased by 1.48 per cent compared to the same period of 2018. In June 2019 alone, the imports of computers, electronic products and components from South Korea reached 1.38 billion USD, decreased by 3.09% compared to May 2019 but increased by 14.33 per cent compared to June of 2018.

Meanwhile, the country’s imports of computers, electronic products and components from China ranked second, accounting for 24.4 per cent of the proportion in the first 6 months of 2019, with 5.84 billion USD, an increase of 77.26 per cent compared to the same period last year. In June alone, the figure was at 841.8 million USD, a decrease of 23.63 per cent compared to May of 2019 but an increase of 36.91 per cent compared to June of 2018.
The next was the Taiwan (CN) market and the US - these two markets all have turnover of over 2 billion USD, with 2.42 billion USD and 2.20 billion USD, increasing by 46.49 per cent and 48.67 per cent, respectively.

Notably, Vietnam also increased strongly the importss of computers, electronic products and components from the Indian market, with the import value of 50.02 million USD, but compared to the same period in 2018, it increased by 6 times (corresponding to 508.1 per cent), although in June of 2019, the imports from the Indian market decreased by 19.56 per cent compared to May of 2019 and decreased by 11.93 per cent compared to June of 2018 with only 2.03 million USD.

The imports from Denmark increased by 4.9 times (387.09 per cent respectively) reaching 7.8 million USD. In June of 2019, the imports from Denmark were 44.68 per cent lower than May of 2019 but increased by 0.4 per cent compared to June of 2018 with 273,010 USD.
On the other hand, Vietnam sharply reduced imports from the Israeli market. The country’s imports of computers, electronics and components from Israel in the first six months of this year were down by 95.79 per cent compared to the same period of 2018 to only 7.86 million USD. In June of 2019, the figure increased by 16.6 times (ie increased by 1566.51 per cent) compared to May of 2019 but decreased by 85.29 per cent compared to June of 2018.
Notably, in the first 6 months of 2018, there are some new markets such as: Poland with the import value of 1.5 million USD; Austria - 5.1 million USD and Ireland - 737.42 million USD.
