An information bridge linking Asian and European enterprises, was set up in 2001 according to Decision No. 3849/VPCP-TTTH dated September 11, 2000 of the Prime Minister and Decision No. 1409 QD/BTM dated October 12, 2000 of the Ministry of Trade (now called the Ministry of Industry and Trade).

Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center was assigned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to set up, manage and operate the website Asemconnectvietnam.gov.vn of Vietnam, (http://www.asemconnectvietnam.gov.vn) and take part in ASEMconnect network of Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM).
In July of 2007, Asemconnectvietnam.gov.vn was officially acknowledged as a representative website of Vietnam in WTO (https://www.wto.org/english/thewto_e/countries_e/vietnam_e.htm).

Asemconnectvietnam.gov.vn is engaged in enhancing the international integration, trade exchange, looking for business opportunities and pushing up investment for Asian and European enterprises. The website has a version in English and a version in Vietnamese.

Version of Asemconnectvietnam.gov.vn in English:

- To introduce the overall trade and economic picture of Vietnam as well as policies, potentials and strong points of cities and provinces to lure foreign investment.

- To introduce preferential policies for domestic and foreign invested enterprises in Vietnam.

- To show the import and export figures and trade exchange between Vietnam and ASEM members and countries all over the world.

- To introduce the image and business abilities of Vietnamese enterprises.
