Vietnam’s exports of goods to Laos and Cambodia increased in ten months
Wednesday, December 5,2018AsemconnectVietnam - In the first ten months of this year, Vietnam’s exports to both Laos and Cambodia saw growth compared with the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Exports to Cambodia increased by over 36 per cent
Vietnam earned over US$3 billion from exports of goods to Cambodia in the first ten months of this year, increased by 36.2 per cent over the same period last year, according to the figures of the General Department of Customs.
In October only, the country exported $331.6 million worth of goods to Cambodia, increased by 4.92 per cent over the previous month and by 28.91 per cent over the same month of 2017.
Iron and steel was the leading item exported by the country to Cambodia in the first ten months of this year with 1.1 million tons worth of $712.7 million, increased sharply by 51.75 per cent in quantity and 74.95 per cent in value compared with the same period last year, accounted for 23.26 per cent of the total.
It was followed by petroleum with 586,700 tons worth of $403.2 million, up by 5.43 per cent in quantity and 33.72 per cent in value; and then textiles and garments with $398.13 million, up by 42.17 per cent.
In the first ten months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of fruits and vegetables to Cambodia increased sharply by 3.4 times or 239.69 per cent; while the exports of plastics to Cambodia increased by 100.2 per cent to $13 million; and seafood – up by 79.11 per cent to $21.34 million.
However, the exports of telephones and components to Cambodia decreased by 29.31 per cent to $18.66 million.
Exports to Laos increased by nearly 14 per cent
Vietnam exported US$484.39 million worth of goods to Laos in the first ten months of this year, increased by 13.65 per cent over the same period of 2017, showed the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In the first ten months of this year, petroleum was the leading items exported by Vietnam to Laos with 116,900 tons worth of $81.37 million, down by 9.75 per cent in quantity but up by 15.32 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
It was followed by iron and steel of all kinds with 98,000 tons worth of $73.16 million, up by 8.61 per cent in quantity and 18.69 per cent in value over the same period last year.
In the first ten months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of ordinary metals to Laos increased sharply by 42.66 per cent to $2.27 million; while the exports of coal to Laos decreased by 40.39 per cent to $2.95 million.
