Three export commodities earn more than 20 billion USD
Thursday, September 27,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Three export commodities have earned Vietnam more than 20 billion USD in revenue each this year to September 15, according to latest statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
Phones and parts were the biggest hard currency earner with nearly 34.4 billion USD, followed by textile-garment with nearly 21.1 billion USD. Computers, electronic products and components came next with 20.25 billion USD.
It is noteworthy that this is the first time textile-garment and computers-electronics have touched the mark of 20 billion USD in export earnings for the period from the beginning of the year to September 15.
In combination, the three groups of commodities grossed almost 75.6 billion USD, accounting for 45 percent of the country’s total export value.
However, the export value of those commodities for the first half of September showed a decline compared to the second half of August. Earning from phones and parts dropped 13.6 percent (equivalent to 419 million USD), while that of textile-garment was down 23.8 percent (415 million USD) and that of computers, electronics and components reduced by 19.9 percent (326 million USD).
Phones and parts made in Vietnam are shipped to more than 120 countries and territories, with Europe being the largest market.
Meanwhile, the largest market for Vietnam’s textile-garment products is the US, and Japan and the Republic of Korea are also important buyers.
China is the biggest market for Vietnam’s computers, electronics and components.
In the same period, Vietnam’s total foreign trade value came to about 331.57 billion USD, up 14 percent year on year.
The country shipped overseas 168.57 billion USD worth of goods, while spending 163 billion USD on imports. The figures represented annual increases of 16.3 and 11.7 percent year on year respectively.
