The country’s exports of fruits and vegetables were estimated at $343.67 million in August, up by 4.14 per cent over the previous month and by 16.1 per cent over the same month of last year. The figure may bring the country’s total exports of fruits and vegetables in the first eight months of this year to $2.67 billion, up by 15.08 per cent over the same period of 2017. If the growth is maintained, the country’s total exports of fruits and vegetables may reach $4 billion this year.

China was the biggest export market of fruits and vegetables in the first seven months of this year with the export turnover of $1.72 billion, up by 12 per cent over the same period last year and accounted for 74 per cent of the total.

In the period, the country’s exports of fruits and vegetables to the South East Asian countries reached $89.24 million, up by 16.9 per cent; to the U.S - $74 million, up by 19.3 per cent; to South Korea - $67.83 million, up by 18.7 per cent; to Japan - $65.59 million, down by 3.1 per cent; and to EU - $64.89 million, up by 7.2 per cent.

The country’s exports of fruits and vegetables to Cambodia reached only $2.1 million, but it rocketed by 542.5 per cent over the same period last year. Besides, the exports to France – up by 42.7 per cent to $13.78 million; to Thailand – up by 38.6 per cent to $32.77 million; to Australia – up by 20.8 per cent to $17.19 million; and to Canada – up by 26.8 per cent to $12.53 million.

However, the exports of fruits and vegetables to Indonesia fell sharply by 86.7 per cent over the same period last year to $0.4 million; to Taiwan – down by 16.4 per cent to $21.15 million; and to Ukraine – down by 18.3 per cent to $0.56 million.
