Exports of iron and steel increased sharply
Sunday, July 8,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exported 2.36 million tons of iron and steel worth of US$ 1.76 billion in the first five months of this year, increased sharply by 41.8 per cent in quantity and 57.7 per cent in value compared with the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Cambodia, the U.S, Indonesia, Malaysia, Belgium, Thailand and South Korea were the country’s major export markets of iron and steel, leading by Cambodia with 490,929 tons worth of $ 314.95 million, increased by 48.3 per cent in quantity and 74.6 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
The exports of iron and steel to the U.S increased by 104 per cent in quantity and in value to 368,040 tons worth of $ 309.77 million; while the exports to Indonesia reached 300,607 tons worth of $ 235.92 million.
In the first five months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of iron and steel to Ukraine increased sharply by 282.6 per cent in quantity and 485.2 per cent in value to 88 tons worth of $ 0.13 million; while the exports to Italy increased by 445.9 per cent in quantity and 411.8 per cent in value to 46,580 tons worth of $ 45.55 million; to Japan – up by 771.5 per cent in quantity and 376 per cent in value to 39,594 tons worth of $ 29.92 million; to Belgium – up by 427.2 per cent in quantity and 347.5 per cent in value to 136,097 tons worth of $ 103.99 million; to Hong Kong – up by 105.2 per cent in quantity and 215.4 per cent in value to 119 tons worth of $ 0.34 million.
However, the exports of iron and steel to Switzerland decreased by 99.6 per cent to 19 tons; to Pakistan – down by 56.6 per cent to 11,882 tons and to Brazil – down by 40 per cent to 823 tons; to the Philippines – down by 52 per cent to 56,639 tons.
