Imports of seafood increased
Saturday, July 7,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s imports of seafood totaled US$ 697.51 million in the first five months of this year, increased by 33.3 per cent over the same period of 2017, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In May, the country’s imports of seafood increased by 29.4 per cent over the previous month and by 60.3 per cent over the same month of last year to $ 163.35 million.
India, Norway, Taiwan, China and Japan were still the country’s leading seafood import markets in the first five months of this year. The imports of seafood from India increased by 14.7 per cent over the same period last year to $ 152.08 million, accounted for 21.8 per cent of the country’s total seafood imports.
Meanwhile, the imports of seafood from Norway increased sharply by 71.9 per cent year – on – year to $ 72.25 million; from Taiwan – up by 41 per cent to $ 46.84 million; from China – down by 9.4 per cent to $ 44.41 million.
Besides, the imports of seafood from Indonesia increased by 77.9 per cent to $ 29.55 million; from Malaysia – up by 83.1 per cent to $ 2.6 million; from Poland – up by 73.7 per cent to $ 3.57 million; from Canada – up by 77.7 per cent to $ 10.5 million; and from South Korea – up by 71.9 per cent to $ 33.77 million.
However, the country’s imports of seafood from Myanmar, Denmark and China decreased by 42.6 per cent; 23.1 per cent and 9.4 per cent, respectively.
