Exports of several items in 1st quarter of 2018

Seafood exports total over US$ 600 million in the first quarter
Vietnam’s exports of seafood in March were estimated at US$ 608 million, bringing the total seafood exports in the first three months to $ 1.7 billion, up by 11.5 per cent compared with the same period last year.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the country’s major seafood export markets in the first two months this year were the US, Japan, China and the Republic of Korea, accounting for 50.5 per cent of the total. Notably, several markets seeing strong export growth included the Netherlands (49.7 per cent), Thailand (35.3 per cent) and China (34.9 per cent). 
Also in March, the country’s seafood import value reached $ 151 million, bringing the total seafood import value in three months of this year to $ 423 million, up by 32.4 per cent year – on - year.
In the first quarter of this year, the country’s total aquatic production rose by 4 per cent to 775,800 tons, including 740,800 tons of seafood and 35,000 tons of home-grown products.
 
The country’s total tuna output was estimated at 6,406 tons in the first quarter of this year, including 3,676 tons in the central province of Khanh Hoa, 1,500 tons in the central province of Binh Dinh and 1,230 tons in the central province of Phu Yen.
Meanwhile, tra fish production in the Mekong Delta was estimated at 230,200 tons, up by 5.1 per cent year – on – year. The production of tra fish in An Giang was at 73,300 tons, up by 3 per cent; Dong Thap – 78,400 tons, up by 7 per cent; and Vinh Long – 13,200 tons, up by 18.3 per cent year – on - year.
 
Exports of cameras, camcorders and components increased sharply in the first quarter
In the first two months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of cameras, camcorders and components to Australia rocketed by 22 folds compared with the same period last year. 

Vietnam exported US$ 768.78 million worth of cameras, camcorders and components in the first two months of this year, increased sharply by 51.5 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
China was leading the list of the country’s export markets of cameras, camcorders and components in the first two months of this year with the export turnover of $ 401.28 million, up by 31.3 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 52.2 per cent of the total.

Hong Kong ranked second with $ 186.99 million, up by 46 per cent; and then South Korea - $ 65.05 million, rocketed by 398 per cent.
In the first two months of this year, the country’s exports of cameras, camcorders and components to Australia rocketed by 22 times compared with the same period last year to $ 0.75 million, while the exports to South Korea also increased sharply by 398 per cent to $ 65.05 million; and to Japan – up by 157 per cent to $ 32.02 million.
However, the exports of cameras, camcorders and components to EU decreased sharply by 32 per cent year – on – year to $ 2.56 million; to Germany – down by 50.8 per cent to $ 1.39 million; and to Canada – down by 77 per cent to $ 0.2 million.
 
Earning from exports of fruits and vegetables reached over US$ 970 million
Vietnam’s exports of fruits and vegetables totaled US$ 970.09 million in the first quarter of this year, increased sharply by 38.5 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In March only, the country’s exports of fruits and vegetables reached nearly $ 321.58 million, up by 20.4 per cent over the previous month and by 145 per cent over the same month of 2017

In the period, the country’s exports of fruits and vegetables to China increased by 42 per cent over the same quarter of last year to $ 726.62 million.
Besides, the exports of fruits and vegetables to the U.S reached $ 28.95 million, up by 18.3 per cent; to Japan - $ 28.38 million, up by 26.4 per cent; to South Korea - $ 23.93 million, up by 8.3 per cent; to Malaysia - $ 14.54 million, up by 19 per cent; to the Netherlands - $ 13.32 million, up by 22.7 per cent; and to the U.A.E - $ 10.2 million, up by 15 per cent.
Especially, the exports of fruits and vegetables to Cambodia rocketed by 247.9 per cent; to Kuwait – up by 150 per cent; to Italy – up by 39.5 per cent; to France – up by 61.7 per cent.
 
US$ 6.3 billion earned from exports of computers, electronics and components
Vietnam is the 12th biggest exporters of computers, electronics and components in the world.
The country exported US$ 6.3 billion worth of computers, electronics and components in the first quarter of this year, increased by 14.1 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In March, the country’s exports of computers, electronics and components reached $ 2.2 billion, up by 31 per cent month – on – month.
China was leading the list of the country’s major export markets of computers, electronics and components in the period with the export turnover of $ 1.7 billion, up by 26.93 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 27.3 per cent of the total. It was followed by South Korea, the U.S, Hong Kong (China) and the Netherlands.

In the first quarter of this year, the country’s exports of computers, electronics and components to EU members decreased by 12.03 per cent while the exports to the South East Asian countries decreased by 33.66 per cent.
However, the exports of computers, electronics and components to Poland and Hungary rocketed by over 6 times and 2 times over the same period last year to $ 98.2 million and $ 43.6 million, respectively. The exports of computers, electronics and components to Taiwan (China) also increased sharply by 96.59 per cent to $ 98.6 million while the exports to Russia increased by 64.22 per cent to $ 38.7 million. 
 
Exports of rubber products increased
Vietnam exported US$ 61.3 million worth of rubber products in March, increased by 69.9 per cent over the previous month, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
The figure brought the country’s total exports of rubber products in the first three months of this year to $ 153.1 million, increased by 16.3 per cent over the same period last year.

The major export markets of rubber products in the first quarter of this year were Japan with $ 29.7 million, up by 14.45 per cent; the U.S - $ 29.2 million, up by 16.97 per cent; the South East Asian countries - $ 10.9 million, up by 18.28 per cent; the EU countries - $ 25.4 million, up by 21.99 per cent. 
In the first quarter of this year, Vietnams’ exports of rubber products to Brazil and India increased sharply by 2 times to $ 2.5 million and $ 2.1 million. Meanwhile, the exports of rubber products to Saudi Arabia decreased sharply by 72.13 per cent to $ 110,600.
Besides, the exports of rubber products to Cambodia and the Netherlands also increased by 73.02 per cent and 60.09 per cent to $ 1.7 million and $ 4.5 million, respectively.
 
Exports of fertilizer increased sharply in quantity and in value
Vietnam exported 100,800 tons of fertilizer worth of US$ 32 million in March, increased sharply by 57.1 per cent in quantity and 53 per cent in value over the previous month, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
The figure brought the country’s total exports of fertilizer in the first quarter of this year to 227,500 tons worth of $ 72.3 million, up by 6.8 per cent in quantity and 26.1 per cent in value. 

Cambodia was the country’s leading fertilizer export market in the first quarter of this year with 75,200 tons worth of $ 26.2 million, up by 29.63 per cent in quantity and 36.74 per cent in value year – on – year.
It was followed by Malaysia with 43,700 tons worth of $ 8.6 million, up by 4.16 per cent in quantity and 9.2 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
The other fertilizer export markets included Laos, Thailand and South Korea.
