Exports to China increased over 33% in first quarter

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam exported US$ 8.2 billion worth of goods to China in the first three months of this year, increased sharply by 33.12 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In March only, the country earned $ 2.6 billion from exports to China, up by 30.06 per cent month – on – month.

Computers, electronics and components were the leading items exported by the country to China in the first quarter of this year with the export turnover of $ 1.7 billion, up by 26.93 per cent year – on – year. It was followed by telephones and components with $ 1.4 billion, up by 477.51 per cent; and fruits and vegetables - $ 726.6 million, up by 41.93 per cent. 

In the first three months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of paper and products to China increased by over 6 times compared with the same period last year to $ 37.4 million; while the exports of plastics and plastic materials to China increased by  184.13 per cent and 137.08 per cent, respectively.

However, in the period, the country’s exports of crude oil to China decreased by 56.59 per cent; and the exports of glass and products – decreased by 55.71 per cent.
