Vietnam to raise exports to China and South Korea

AsemconnectVietnam - To create the big change in exports of goods in 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Trade may apply many solutions to speed up exports, especially to China and South Korea.

Exports of telephones increased by 80.7%
Vietnam’s exports of goods were estimated at US$ 19 billion in January of this year, down by 3.3 per cent over the previous month, according to the figures of the General Statistics Office.
Of the figure, the exports of the domestic economic sector were estimated at $ 5.41 billion, down by 5.2 per cent while the exports of FDI sector (including crude oil) were at $ 13.59 billion, down by 2.6 per cent month – on – month.

Last month, the country’s exports of telephones and components reached $ 4.2 billion, increased sharply by 80.7 per cent compared with the same period last year. Meanwhile, the exports of textiles and garments reached $ 2.3 billion, up by 7.6 per cent; computers, electronics and components - $ 2.2 billion, up by 37.9 per cent; footwear of all kinds - $ 1.3 billion, up by 11.5 per cent; machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 1.1 billion, up by 18.2 per cent year – on – year.

In January of this year, China was the country’s biggest export market with the export turnover of $ 4.5 billion, up by 2.5 times compared with the same period last year, while the exports to the U.S reached $ 3.5 billion, up by 17 per cent; to EU - $ 3 billion, up by 6.6 per cent; and to ASEAN - $ 1.7 billion, up by 15.7 per cent.

Vietnam also spent $ 19.3 billion on importing goods in January, increased sharply by 47.4 per cent year – on – year, mostly due to rising demand for consumer goods during Tet holiday.
So In January, the country got $ 300 million of trade suplus. Of the figure, the domestic economic sector got the trade deficit of $ 2.4 billion while the FDI sector (including crude oil) got the trade surplus of $ 2.1 billion.
