Exports to Asian countries: growth maintained

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of goods to Asian countries saw growth in the first ten months of this year.

China was leading the list of the country’s major export markets in Asia.

 
 

Exports to China increased sharply over 27 per cent in ten months
Vietnam’s exports of cell phones and accessories to China rocketed by 457.7 per cent year – on – year in the first ten months of this year.

The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and China reached US$ 73.29 billion in the first ten months of this year, increased by 27.4 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

Of the figure, the country exported over $ 26.46 billion worth of goods to and imported over $ 46.83 billion worth of goods from China, up by 52.9 per cent and 16.4 per cent, respectively over the same period last year.

The country got $ 20.37 billion of deficit in trade exchange with China, down by 11 per cent year – on – year.
Computers, electronics and components were leading the list of 43 items exported by the country to China in the first ten months of this year with the export turnover of $ 5.38 billion, up by 85.9 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 20.3 per cent of the total. It was followed by cell phones and accessories with $ 3.94 billion, rocketed by 457.7 per cent; and then fruit and vegetables with $ 2.17 billion, up by 54.6 per cent year – on – year.

In the first ten months of this year, the country’s exports of paper and products to China rocketed by 28 times compared with the same period of 2016 while the exports of chemicals – up by 105.6 per cent to $ 168 million; iron and steel – up by 123.8 per cent to $ 10.18 million; cement and clinker – up by 473 per cent to $ 4.88 million. 
However, the exports of coffee, tea and crude oil to China decreased by 22.4 per cent; 42.6 per cent and 21.7 per cent, respectively year – on – year.
 
 

Nearly US$ 14 billion worth of goods exported to Japan
Vietnam exported US$ 13.85 billion worth of goods to Japan in the first ten months of this year, increased sharply by 15.9 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

Textiles and garments were leading the list of 40 items exported by the country to Japan in the first ten months of this year with the export turnover of $ 2.51 billion, up by 5.8 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 18.2 per cent of the total.

It was followed by means of transport and spare parts with $ 1.77 billion, up by 14 per cent; and machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 1.41 billion, up by 10 per cent.

In the first ten months of this year, the exports of iron and steel to Japan rocketed by 287 per cent year – on – year to $ 20.18 million; crude oil – up by 154 per cent to $ 320.03 million; cell phones and accessories – up by 122 per cent to $ 720.68 million; fertilizer of all kinds – up by 121.4 per cent to $ 2.25 million.

However, the exports of ores and minerals to Japan decreased by 15.12 per cent; pepper – down by 29.6 per cent; technical fabrics – down by 9.5 per cent; and ordinary metals – down by 9.2 per cent year – on – year.
 
 

Exports to Cambodia increased by 25 per cent
Vietnam earned US$ 2.24 billion from exports of goods to Cambodia in the first ten months of this year, increased by 25 per cent over the same period last year, according to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Iron and steel were leading the list of items exported by the country to Cambodia in the first ten months of this year with the export turnover of 727,400 tons worth of $ 407.4 million, up by 38.17 per cent in quantity and 66.14 per cent in value year – on – year.

It was followed by petroleum of all kinds with 556,400 tons worth of $ 301.5 million, up by 1.35 per cent in quantity and 29.79 per cent in value compared with the same period last year. And then textiles and garments – up by 42.18 per cent to $ 280 million; and textile and garment materials – up by 22.47 per cent to $ 152.4 million.  

In the first ten months of the year, the country’s exports of cell phones and accessories to Cambodia increased sharply by over 14 times compared with the same period last year to $ 26.3 million; while the exports of fertilizer – up by 54.64 per cent to $ 104.9 million; and rubber products – up by 57.18 per cent to $ 4.4 million.
However, the exports of fruit and vegetables to Cambodia fell sharply by 65.35 per cent to $ 684,600.
 
 

Exports to Myanmar increased sharply
Vietnam earned US$ 563.3 million from exports of goods to Myanmar in the first ten months of this year, increased sharply by 50.32 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In October only, the country exported $ 80.3 million worth of goods to Myanmar, up by 4.2 per cent compared with the previous month.

Means of transport and spare parts were leading the list of items exported by the country to Myanmar in the first ten months of this year with the export turnover of $ 59.7 million, up by 45.51 per cent year – on – year.

It was followed by iron and steel products with $ 58.2 million, increased sharply by over 2 times compared with the same period last year; machines, equipment and spare parts – up by 60.62 per cent to $ 54.3 million. 
In the first ten months of this year, the country’s exports of cement and clinker to Myanmar decreased by 13.96 per cent in quantity and 17.33 per cent in value to 23,000 tons worth of $ 1 million.
