Vietnam posts a $528 million trade deficit in May

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam reported a trade deficit of $528 million in May, compared with a surplus of $186 million in April, the customs department said on Thursday.

Exports in May edged up 2.3 percent from a month earlier to $17.93 billion, while imports rose 6.4 percent from April to $18.46 billion, Vietnam Customs said on its website.
Vietnam exported $79.98 billion of goods in the first five months of 2017, up 18.4 percent from a year earlier, while imports jumped 24.7 percent during the same period to $82.47 billion, leaving a deficit of $2.49 billion, the report said.
