Exports to Asian countries in first two months of 2017

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first two months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of goods to Asian countries increased sharply.

 Especially, the exports to China rose sharply to US$ 3.8 billion and accounted for nearly 14 per cent of the country’s total export turnover in the period.
 
Vietnam’s exports to China increased sharply
China is now the second biggest export market of Vietnam in the world, after the U.S.
Vietnam’s exports of goods to China in the first two months of this year increased sharply by 54 per cent over the same period last year to nearly US$ 3.8 billion, accounted for 13.7 per cent of the country’s total exports in the period, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Computers, electronics and components were leading the list of items exported by the country to China in the first two months with the export turnover of $ 825.5 million, up by 144.5 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 22 per cent of the total. 
It was followed by fruit and vegetables with $ 309.9 million, up by 31 per cent year – on – year; cameras, camcorders and components - $ 305.6 million, up by 96.7 per cent; fibers of all kinds - $ 258.3 million; up by 35 per cent; rubber - $ 250.4 million, up by 191 per cent.
In the first two months of this year, the country’s exports of iron and steel of all kinds to China rocketed by 891 per cent to $ 3.3 million; papers and products – up by 683.6 per cent to $ 3.5 million; rubber – up by 191 per cent to $ 250.4 million; computers, electronics and components – up by 144.6 per cent to $ 825.5 million.
However, the exports of ores and minerals; and coffee to China decreased by 39 per cent and 34 per cent, respectively year – on – year.
 
Exports to Singapore increased by nearly 32%
Vietnam’s exports of goods to Singapore reached nearly US$ 427.6 million in the first two months of this year, increased by 31.9 per cent over the same period last year, showed the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Computers, electronics and components were leading the list of items exported by the country to Singapore in the first two months of this year with the export turnover of $ 72.4 million, accounted for 16.9 per cent of the total and increased by nearly 30 per cent year – on – year.
It was followed by means of transport and spare parts with $ 60 million, up by 59 per cent year – on – year; crude oil - $ 49.7 million; glass and products - $ 46.3 million, up by 27.7 per cent; cell phones and accessories - $ 30.8 million, down by 21.6 per cent.
In the first two months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of petroleum to Singapore increased sharply by 130 per cent to $ 10.6 million; ordinary metals – up by 146 per cent to $ 0.9 million; animal feed and materials – up by 74 per cent to $ 0.4 million; textiles and garments – up by 38 per cent to $ 10.1 million.
However, the exports of rice, cashew nuts and pepper to Singapore decreased by 35 per cent; 20 per cent and 23 per cent in value, respectively over the same period last year.
Singapore is the biggest trade partner of Vietnam in ASEAN and the 6th biggest trade partner in the world. Singapore is also the 3rd biggest investor in Vietnam with the total investment capital of $ 37.8 billion.
 
Exports to Myanmar also increased
In the first two months of this year, the country’s exports of goods to Myanmar reached US$ 85.7 million, increased by 18.42 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs. Myanmar is one of the most important trade partners of Vietnam.
The major commodities exported by Vietnam to Myanmar in the first two months of this year were machines, equipment, tools and spare parts; textiles and garments; iron and steel, etc., leading by means of transport and spare parts with the export turnover of $ 12.1 million, up by 60.4 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 14.11 per cent of the total.
It was followed by iron and steel products with $ 9.5 million, up by 77.26 per cent; and machines and equipment - $ 7.5 million, up by 19 per cent.
Especially, the country’s exports of iron and steel to Myanmar increased sharply by 114.56 per cent year – on – year in the first two months to $ 4.3 million.
 
Exports to the Philippines were up by 26%
Vietnam’s total exports of goods to the Philippines in the first two months of this year increased by 26 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In February only, the country’s exports of goods to the Philippines reached $ 220.1 million, up by 8.3 per cent over the previous month.
Rice was leading the list of items exported by the country to the Philippines in the first two months of the year with the export turnover of over $ 78 million, accounted for 18.6 per cent of the total and increased by 36 per cent over the same period last year.
It was followed by machines, equipment and spare parts with $ 37 million, up by 42.8 per cent; iron and steel - $ 35.8 million, up by 2,169 per cent; cement and clinker - $ 30.6 million, up by 30 per cent; cell phones and accessories - $ 21.2 million, down by 23.5 per cent; computers, electronics and components - $ 25.5 million, up by 18 per cent.
In the first two months of this year, the country’s exports of iron and steel to the Philippines rocketed by 2,169 per cent year – on – year while the exports of ordinary metals – up by 277 per cent to $ 3.2 million; glass and products – up by 223 per cent to $ 1.7 million; and chemical products – up by 136 per cent to $ 10.4 million.
However, the country’s exports of tea to the Philippines decreased sharply by 88 per cent to $ 0.04 million; fertilizer – down by 54 per cent to $ 2 million; pepper – down by 36 per cent to $ 2.3 million; and coffee – down by 39 per cent to $ 13.9 million.
