Steel price accelerates

AsemconnectVietnam - Domestic steel prices have increased by VND400,000-600,000 a tonne compared to January, according to Vietnam Steel Association.
The price swings from VND10.6-11.2 million a tonne at steel plants. Steel billet price jumped to VND10,200 a kilogram by the end of March.
The association says that the domestic price has increased in association with the world price hike.
Scrap steel price has reached $ 285-290 a tonne, up $15-20 compared to the price at the end of January and early February. Steel billet has surged by $20-25 to $430-440 a tonne.
Hot rolled steel has remained high hitting $ 515-523 a tonne. Last year, the highest price was $528 a tonne.
