As of mid-February, provinces over the country cultivated 250 thousand hectares of maize, equaling 103% from the similar period last year; 50.5 thousand hectares of sweet potato, equaling 88.4%; 20.1 thousand hectares of soya bean, equaling 59.5%; 65.8 thousand hectares of peanut, equaling 85.2%; 401.1 thousand hectares, equaling 97.3%.

The country’s flock of buffaloes in February was estimated to reduce by 0.1% compared to the identical period last year; flock of oxen increased by 1.9%-2.1%; flock of pigs grew by 4.5%-5.2%; flock of poultry went up by 4.3%-4.8%.
 

 Generally, in two beginning months of the year, the concentrated planted forest area was estimated to reach 3521 hectares, up 2.1% over the same period last year; the number of separately planted forest trees gained 10.7 trillion trees, up 0.9%; firewood production attained 3 million ster, a decline of 1.6%. Wood production in two beginning months of the year gained 875 thousand m³, a rise of 10.1% compared to the same period last year.
 

Generally, in the first two months of this year, the damaged forest area was 104 hectares, 1.6 times higher than the same period last year, of which the burnt forest area was 66.3 hectares, 2.1 times as high as that in the same period last year; the destroyed area was 37.7 hectares, 13.9% increase.
 

Generally, in two beginning months of 2017, the production of fishing was estimated to reach 859.5 thousand tons, up 2.2% from the same period last year, of which the output of aquaculture gained 466.9 thousand tons, up 2.1%; the output of fishing caught achieved 392.6 thousand tons, up 2.4% (Sea catching reached 369.2 thousand tons, up 2.7%).
