AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of goods to Australia reached US$ 217.1 million in the first month of this year, decreased by 5.2 per cent over the same period last year and by 14 per cent over the previous month, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

Telephones and accessories were leading the list of items exported by the country to Australia in January of this year with the export turnover of $ 33.8 million, accounted for 15.6 per cent of the total and decreased by 2.4 per cent year – on – year. It was followed by computers, electronics and components with $ 24.4 million, up by 142 per cent; textiles and garments - $ 17.6 million, up by 12 per cent; footwear of all kinds - $ 16.3 million, up by 5 per cent; wood and furniture - $ 13.8million, up by 10 per cent; crude oil - $ 12.5 million, down by 74 per cent; machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 12.5 million, up by 16.8 per cent.

In the first month of this year, the country’s exports of plastics rocketed by 593 per cent; iron and steel of all kinds – up by 217 per cent; computers, electronics and components – up by 142 per cent; cashew nuts – up by 75 per cent; chemical products – up by 69 per cent; precious stones, metals and products – up by 67.7 per cent.

However, the exports of clinker, cement, electric wires and cables, and crude oil to Australia decreased sharply by 94.71 per cent; 72.8 per cent and 74 per cent, respectively year – on – year.
