Leading items imported in January of 2017
Tuesday, February 28,2017AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s imports of goods in January decreased sharply compared with the previous month, but increased by 4.8 per cent over the same month of last year.
10 leading items accounted for 65 per cent of the country’s total import value. The imports of telephones and accessories accounted for 16.2 per cent; textiles and garments – 15 per cent; computers, electronics and components – 10.5 per cent.
Machines, equipment and spare parts: The country imported $ 2.34 billion worth of machines, equipment, tools and spare parts in January of this year, up by 9.1 per cent year – on - year.
Of the figure, the import value of FDI enterprises was $ 1.37 billion, up by 24.8 per cent while the import value of the domestic economic sector was nearly $ 966 million, down by 9.7 per cent.
The main import markets of machines, equipment, tools and spare parts in January were China with $ 866 million, up by 10.4 per cent year – on – year; South Korea – $ 615 million, up by 64 per cent; Japan - $ 241 million, down by 28.1 per cent; and EU - $ 216 million, down by 5.04 per cent.
Computers, electronic products and components: Vietnam spent $ 2.13 billion for import of computers, electronic products and components in January of this year, up by 7.6 per cent compared with the same month of 2016. Of the figure, the FDI sector accounted for $ 1.94 billion.
The major import markets of computers, electronic products and components in the period were South Korea with $ 681 million, up by 20.1 per cent year – on – year; China - $ 482 million, up by 8 per cent; and Taiwan – $ 230 million, up by 4.9 per cent.
Telephones and accessories: Vietnam imported $ 834 million worth of telephones and accessories in January of this year, up by 11.9 per cent compared with the same month of 2016.
The main import markets of cell phones and accessories in the period were China with $ 493 billion, down by 2.7 per cent year – on – year; and South Korea - $ 250 million, up by 24.5 per cent.
Iron and steel of all kinds: The country imported 1.23 million tons of iron and steel of all kinds worth of over $ 664 million in January of this year, down by 14.9 per cent in quantity and up by 21.5 per cent in value year – on - year.
In January, the country imported 679,000n tons of iron and steel of all kinds from China, down by 23.1 per cent year – on - year; over 175,000 tons from South Korea, up by 27.6 per cent.
Cloth of all kinds: The import of cloth of all kinds totaled $ 662 million in January of this year, down by 15.4 per cent over the same period last year.
The country’s top import markets of cloth of all kinds in January were China with $ 374 million, down by 12.7 per cent year – on – year; South Korea – $ 121 million, down by 14.8 per cent; and Taiwan – $ 84 million, down by 23.5 per cent.
Petroleum of all kinds: The import of petroleum of all kinds totaled 910,000 tons worth of $ 494 million in January of this year, up by 21.4 per cent in quantity and by 107.5 per cent in value over the same period last year.
The country’s top import markets of petroleum of all kinds in January of this year were South Korea with 293,000 tons, up by 5 times year – on – year; Singapore – 269,000 tons, down by 31.4 per cent; Malaysia – 178,000 tons, up by 133.6 per cent; and Thailand – 108,000 tons, down by 16.7 per cent.
