AsemconnectVietnam - In November of 2016, Vietnam’s auto imports increased sharply by 29.6 per cent in quantity and 17.4 per cent in value compared with the previous month to 12,107 units worth of US$ 190 million, according to the preliminary statistics figures released by the General Department of Customs.

The figures brought the country’s total auto imports in the first eleven months of 2016 to 98,802 units worth of nearly $ 2.1 billion.

Of the figure, the imports of under – 9 – seat autos reached 4,221 units, up by 14 per cent year – on – year; trucks – 2,093 units, down by 19 per cent; and above – 9 – seat autos – 10 units.

In the first 11 months of last year, Thailand was still leading the list of the country’s major auto import markets with 30,372 units worth of $ 569 million. It was followed by South Korea with 17,873 units worth of $ 270 million; China – 10,108 units worth of $ 388 million; and India – 1,802 units.

Especially, the imports of autos from Russia increased sharply, both by quantity and value with 1,610 units worth of over $ 85 million, up by 3 times in quantity and 4 times in value year – on – year.
