AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam imported US$ 4.49 billion worth of mobile phones and accessories in the first seven months of this year, slightly increased by 0.77 per cent over the same period last year, according to the statistics figures.

Mobile phones and accessories ranked fifth in the list of top ten import items in the first seven months of this year after machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts; computers, electronic products and components; cloth of all kinds; and petroleum of all kinds.

China was leading in the list of the country’s major import markets of mobile phones and accessories in the first seven months of this year with the import value of $ 3.25 billion, up by 4.4 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 73 per cent of the total.

Last year, the country imported $ 5.69 billion worth of mobile phones and accessories from China, up by 66.34 per cent.

South Korea ranked second with the import value of $ 1.02 billion, down by 19.2 per cent over the same period last year.

In the first seven months of the year, Vietnam also imported mobile phones and accessories from Taiwan; Japan; Hong Kong; Britain; the U.S and Sweden. The import from Japan increased sharply by 366.83 per cent year – on –year while that from Sweden saw a decrease of 97.83 per cent.
