Anise is a rare flower globally, a flower from the anise plant (or star anise).
China, Vietnam and India are currently dominant suppliers of anise worldwide. Among them, Vietnam and China are the only two countries that can produce star anise in large quantities thanks to favorable conditions.
Anise is a small tree 2-6m high, shape of the whole tree is tapered in shape of a canarium, green all year round, the trunk grows straight, the branches easily break. Leaves grow in clusters of 3-4 at the ends of branches, have stems, whole leaf blades, 8-12cm long, 3-4cm wide, brittle, crushed and fragrant. Anise plants, if planted and cared for well, will produce flowers after 4 years of planting.
Yield from the 4th to 6th year is 0.5 -1 kg/tree, so rare star anise is even more precious. From the 20th year onwards, the tree will yield a stable yield of up to 40 - 50kg/tree. If anise trees are planted and cared for properly, they will get high and stable yields, extending the harvest period up to 80 years.
In Vietnam, star anise is often used as a spice in powdered or whole form. Because of its spicy and aromatic properties, star anise is a spice used in many dishes such as pho, curry, stew, stew, etc, helps create flavor and aroma, giving dishes a rich and unique flavor. In addition, star anise also creates a feeling of appetite and stimulates taste buds.
According to statistics, our country currently has over 5,100 species of medicinal plants, with many potentials and advantages to develop medicinal herbs into an economic industry.
