Hanoi facilitates investment in ICs

 Sunday, March 24,2024

AsemconnectVietnam - The Hanoi People’s Committee is expected to have a meeting with industrial zone and cluster-based investors at the end of March to help them overcome difficulties and develop production.

Through the meeting, city leaders will provide information about the progress of and solutions to expedite the development of industrial zones and clusters in the capital, helping businesses there overcome difficulties and contributing to accelerating investment in city-based industrial parks and clusters in accordance with the approved plans, as well as to promoting production and trading development in the city.
Hanoi is home to 70 ongoing industrial clusters with a total area of 1,686 hectares, attracting approximately 3,864 household businesses and enterprises, employing nearly 80,000 workers. Among these, 25 industrial clusters have completed essential infrastructure projects.
According to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade’s representative, managing and attracting investment to industrial zones and clusters in the city still face various obstacles, with the most significant being the overlap of regulations in related legal documents. This is also the main reason behind the slow progress of infrastructure development in city-based industrial zones and clusters.
Furthermore, industrial zones and clusters are assigned to district-level project management board investors, and their modest operational budgets are allocated from the district's budget. As a result, there are significant limitations in terms of investment in construction, supplementary facilities, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance of infrastructure.
Given those challenges, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade expects that the city's leadership will provide solutions to address them during the meeting. This will enhance the effectiveness of the management, investment attraction and development of industrial parks and clusters in the city.
