In January, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and materials from Argentina reached 73 million USD, decreased by 47.52 per cent compared with the previous month but decreased by 10.7 per cent over the same month of last year, and accounted for 14.3 per cent of the total market share.

It was followed by Brazil with over 31 million USD in January, up by 206.48 per cent month – on – month and down by 48.69 per cent over the same month of last year. The figure brought the country’s total imports of animal feed and materials from the U.S in the first 10 months of this year to over 325 million USD, up by 1.34 per cent year – on – year.

Meanwhile, the imports animal feed and materials from the U.S reached over 26 million USD in January, down by 33.77 per cent month – on – month and by 69.79 per cent year – on – year, accounted for 11.9 per cent of the total market share.

In January of this year, Vietnam spent over 222 million USD on importing animal feed and materials, down by 41.65 per cent over the same period last year.

In the period, the country’s imports of animal feed and materials from the Philippines reached 2.4 million USD, increased sharply by 102.07 per cent; from the U.A.E reached 3.9 million USD, up by 87.44 per cent; from Malaysia – 2.1 million USD, up by 19.33 per cent; and from Japan – 351,000 USD, up by 17.6 per cent year - on – year. 

Vietnam also imported wheat, corn, soybean; oil and grease as materials for producing animal feed and materials in the first 10 months of this year.

 

Wheat: Vietnam’s imports of wheat were estimated at 377,000 tons worth of 95million USD in January of this year, increased by 42.2 per cent in quantity and by 26.78 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2019.

The leading wheat import markets in January of this year were Australia with the market share of 29 per cent; Russia – 18 per cent; the U.S – 11 per cent; Brazil – 11 per cent; and Canada – 6 per cent.

In January of this year, the imports of wheat from Russia decreased by 45.29 per cent in quantity and 52.15 per cent in value year – on - year, while the imports from Australia decreased by 8.37 per cent in quantity and 16.82 per cent in value. Meanwhile, the imports from the U.S increased by 13 times in quantity and 12 times in value compared with the same period last year; the imports from Canada increased sharply by 115.4 per cent in quantity and 113.8 per cent in value over the same period last year.  

Soybean: Vietnam’s imports of soybean reached 89,000 tons worth of over 37 million USD in January of this year, decreased by 43.06 per cent in quantity and by 39.75 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2019.

Corn: The imports of corn reached over 751,000 tons worth of 147 million USD in January of this year, decreased by 17.92 per cent in quantity and 23.24 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2019.

Argentina and Brazil were the leading corn import markets of Vietnam in the first  month of this year with 56 per cent and 38 per cent of the total market share, respectively.
