Exports of animal feed and materials in first nine months

AsemconnectVietnam - In September 2019, Vietnam’s exports of animal feed and raw materials continued to decline compared to August of 2019, down by 20.2 per cent, equivalent to 50.7 million USD - this was the second consecutive month of decline.

Generally in the first 9 months of 2019, Vietnam’s exports of animal feed and raw materials reached 516.41 million USD, down by 4.7 per cent compared to the same period of 2018.
In the first 9 months of this year, the exports to mainland China accounted for 27.6 per cent of the proportion, reaching 142.63 million USD, however, the export speed to this market decreased by 17.11 per cent over the same period last year. In September of 2019 alone, the exports off animal feed and materials to China also decreased by 45.47 per cent compared to August of 2019 and decreased by 44.07 per cent compared to September of 2018, equivalent to 9.11 million USD.

Cambodian market accounted for 14.39 per cent of the proportion and reached 74.36 million USD, up by 6.45 per cent over the same period last year. In September of 2019 alone, the exports to Cambodia reached 9.61 million USD, up by 9.12 per cent compared to August of 2019 but down by 3.96 per cent compared to September of 2018.
The next were Malasyia, India and the U.S with 56.28 million USD; 49.4 million USD and 30.77 million USD, increased by 6.45 per cent; 10.92 per cent and 11.13 per cent, respectively.
In addition to the above markets, Vietnam also exports to other countries such as Taiwan (China), Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.

In general, in the first 9 months of this year, the country’s exports of animal feed and raw materials to almost all markets have been growing. In particular, during this period, Japan strongly increased its imports of animal feed and raw materials from Vietnam, although the turnover only reached 26.98 million USD, but compared with the same period last year, it surged by 22.94 per cent, particularly in September of 2019, Vietnam exported to Japan 2.62 million USD worth of animal feed and materials, an increase of 6.28 per cent compared to August of 2019 and an increase of 0.84 per cent ​​compared to September of 2018.

In contrast, Thailand’s imports of animal feed and materials from Vietnam decreased by 26.53 per cent, to 16.37 million USD, particularly in September of 2019, Thailand imported from Vietnam 1.24 million USD worth of animal feed and materials, up by 16.58 per cent compared to August of 2019 but down by 11.92 per cent compared to September of 2019.

The production of animal feed and materials in September 2019 was estimated at 1.03 million tons, up by 2.2 per cent compared to September of 2018 and up by 1.3 per cent compared to August of 2019. The figure brought the production of animal feed in the first 9 months of 2019 to 9.4 million tons, up by 0.1 per cent over the same period last year.
According to the General Statistics Office, the production of feed for aquatic products in September of 2019 was estimated at 604,400 tons, up by 0.2 per cent compared to August of 2019 and up by 14.8 per cent compared to September of 2018. The figure brought the production of feed for aquatic products in the first 9 months of 2019 to 5.15 million tons, up by 14 per cent over the same period last year.
