The Import-Export Department (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) estimates that fruit and vegetable exports in November of 2023 reached 500 million USD, down by 17.9% compared to October of 2023 and up by 65.2% compared to November of 2022.
In November of 2023, fruit and vegetable exports decreased by 17.9% compared to the previous month.
Overall, in the first 11 months of 2023, the export value of fruits and vegetables was estimated to reach 5.3 billion USD, an increase of 74.5% over the same period of 2022.
In the structure of exported fruit and vegetable products in the first 10 months of 2023, fruits of all kinds contribute greatly to the growth rate. Among them, durian, jackfruit, and mango were the fruits with significant growth rates.
Leading the export value was durian, reaching 2.07 billion USD, an increase of 606.3%; jackfruit reached 168.6 million USD, an increase of 35.5%; mango reached 154 million USD, an increase of 41.4% over the same period of 2022. Meanwhile, dragon fruit and banana fruit tend to decrease in the first 10 months of 2023.
The next was the processed products group, reaching 996.5 million USD, an increase of 18% over the same period of 2022. In particular, the export value of many processed fruit and vegetable products recorded positive growth, including products made from passion fruit, pistachios, mango, and almonds.
Meanwhile, the export value of some processed products recorded a decrease, such as products made from coconut, pineapple, sesame seeds, sweet potatoes, etc.
In the first 10 months of 2023, the export value of the vegetable group reached 233.5 million USD, an increase of 4.9% over the same period last year. In particular, the export value of many types of vegetables and tubers increased, including: peppers, cauliflower, carrots, mushrooms, and Chinese cabbage.
On the contrary, the export value of some types of vegetables and tubers decreased, such as sweet potatoes, corn, etc.
In general, in the structure of exported fruit and vegetable products, the fruit group was still concentrated mainly in fresh and frozen form, so in the short term, Vietnam's fruits may not increase the value of the product.
For the intensive processing group, Vietnam has exploited many products well, but some products processed from coconut, pineapple, dragon fruit, custard apple, etc. have not yet been exploited well.
