 Wednesday, May 30,2018

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s telecom firm Viettel will inaugurate Mytel mobile service network in Myanmar on June 9, the company’s tenth international market with 53 million people, news website Dan Tri reports.

Since its first operation year, Mytel has installed over 7,000 base transceiver stations with 4G service and more than 30,000 kilometers of optic cable.

Le Dang Dung, deputy general director of Viettel, said the telephone penetration rate in Myanmar is not high and its economy is growing fast, offering good opportunities to the telecommunication sector in general and Viettel in particular. The corporation expects to have 2-3 million customers in Myanmar this year, he added.
Mytel, the brand name of Telecom International Myanmar, is a joint venture between Viettel’s subsidiary Viettel Global and two Myanmar partners – Star High Public Company and Myanmar National Telecom Holding Public. The project has total investment capital of US$1.5 billion.
The market is now having three other players comprising Myanmar Government-owned MPT, Teleenor of Norway and Ooredoo of Qatar. Mytel is the fourth mobile service network in Myanmar.
Among the foreign countries where Viettel has established a presence, Myanmar has the fastest-growing economy with a growth rate of 7% and rapid growth in information technology and telecom sectors.
