 Wednesday, January 31,2018

AsemconnectVietnam - PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) has been a typical example of devotion of the Vietnamese gas industry: Ensuring energy security, food security and socioeconomic development of the country.

PV GAS was assigned by the Government of Vietnam and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) to collect, transport, store, process and trade gas and gas products in the country. In the past 25 years, PV Gas has always gone on that way and outstandingly completed its tasks.
PV GAS is now gathering, transporting, processing and distributing gas from offshore Cuu Long Basin and Nam Con Son Basin to supply consumers in the Southeast region; collecting, transporting, processing and distributing gas via its PM3 - Ca Mau pipeline system for customers in the Southwest region; and collecting and distributing gas from Ham Rong Field and Thai Binh Field in Block 102 & 106. PV Gas is also the owner of a 60,000-tonne LPG storage facility, the largest and most modern in Vietnam to date. The corporation also operates a large-scale gas storage and distribution system which consists of warehouses and exporting ports of LPG, LPG production facilities, tankers and tank trucks. This system has a storage capacity of 92,000 tonnes of LPG and 46,000 cubic metres of condensate. In addition, PV GAS is running a nationwide LPG filling station system. The corporation is confidently managing a US$3-billion gas system, consisting of over 1,000 km of seashore pipelines, two gas processing plants, and LPG storage facilities with a combined capacity of 90,000 tonnes. PV GAS is the fifth largest gas supplier in Southeast Asia.
In gas collection, processing, transporting and distribution tasks, PV GAS always outdoes its production, revenue, budget and profit plans. From 1995 to mid-2015, PV GAS provided 95 billion cubic metres of dry gas, 9 million tonnes of LPG and 1.5 million tonnes of condensate to the market. Currently, gas provided by PV GAS generates about 35 per cent of electricity and 70 per cent of fertilisers in the country. The corporation now occupies 70 per cent of domestic LPG market share. Since its establishment to April 2015, PV GAS had always been a leading gas producer by revenue, tax payment, budget and profit. The corporation had raked in more than VND475 trillion of revenue and paid nearly VND51 trillion of taxes to the State Budget. The firm contributes about 10 per cent of PetroVietnam’s revenue and over 2 per cent of the country’s GDP and donates nearly VND100 billion a year to social welfare programmes. In the latest five years, PV GAS saw an 8 per cent growth in revenue, a 9 per cent growth in tax payment, and a 20 percent growth in profit before tax.
Not only developing gas fields in the country, PV GAS has also imported gas and related products from foreign countries to meet domestic demand. The firm has also prepared for the short supply of domestic gas sources by boosting imports. PV GAS has prepared for the import of LNG to offset the domestic short supply.
Servicing also significantly contributes to PV GAS’s development. The corporation has developed some strong services like transportation, storage and transportation of gas and condensate; and maintenance and repair of gas works and steel pipelines. In oil and gas pipe production and pipe coasting, PV GAS has become a leading pipe-coating name of the Vietnamese oil and gas industry. Its products can meet 100 per cent of domestic demand.
PV Gas is one of the first units in Vietnam to be certified by international certification organisations like TUV and BSI for satisfaction of requirements and criteria for OHSAS 18001:2007 (occupational health and safety management system), ISO 9001: 2008 and ISO 14001: 2004.
After 25 years of construction and development, PV GAS has become the No. 1 dry gas supplier in Vietnam, contributed  on ensuring energy security and food security of the country, ensuring the stable supply of LPG and gas products and stabilising LPG prices in the country.
