Scavi overcoming difficulties to success

 Wednesday, October 18,2017

AsemconnectVietnam - Quarter of a century cannot be considered such a long time, but it is enough for a company possessing high potential and great inner strength like Scavi Joint Stock Company to grow and confidently strengthen its brand on the domestic as well as international apparel markets. The dynamic of Scavi’s Board of Directors and the creative and enthusiastic spirit of the staff has helped the company fly high to conquer new heights in the world’s fashion industry.

Scavi Joint Stock Company is invested by the French parent company Corele International Group, one of the top names in the European lingerie industry with over 140 years of experience. After 27 years of development with the supply chain strategy from creation to Sourcing and Out-Sourcing services, Scavi has made itself a reputable brand on the international market. Currently, Scavi is a “significant foreign investment enterprise of Vietnam's garment industry” with over 10,000 employees, 5 factories (4 in Vietnam and 1 in Laos) with the co-production of more than 15 satellites in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
Main products of the company are luxury fashionable underwear for men, women and children. Besides, Scavi also specialised in sportswear and bathing suits. Clients include leading industrial groups and distributors, mainly from Europe, North America and Japan. According to Ms Tran Thi Moc Lan, Vice Chairperson of Scavi, the company primarily focused on investing in specialised and sophisticated technology to provide customer product lines of high added value, at the same time developing constant creativity in industrialisation. With the policy of socialisation, the company has generated jobs for many workers, building a strong standing against fierce competition in international market. That specific direction aims to avoid confrontation with strong competitors such as China, India, and Malaysia in terms of price and South American, Eastern European countries in terms of geography.
According to Ms Lan, along with that specific direction, the success of Scavi also stems from the policy of differentiation in competitiveness with Service and Innovation - applied in developed countries; avoiding the same old path of many other apparel companies at the time (the 80s, 90s and earlier) based on the low-cost processing of underdeveloped and developing countries. From the very first days, Scavi has bravely directed its activities towards advocating innovation and service. With this breakthrough path, even at the most difficult time of Vietnam’s garment industry, Scavi has managed to develop step-by-step and implement industrialisation objectives for each stage of development. From the stage of technology transfer cooperation and fundamental human resources training to professional level for the company (an outstanding example is the creative and design team) to the stage of in-depth completion on specific technology of lingerie manufacturing which is an industrial interconnected chain: Creativity - Design, material purchasing, production organisation and delivery to customers’ warehouse. This is a solution to cope with increasing price competition that Scavi determined from the start and has brought the company resounding success; helping Scavi confidently create a brand name of professional Sourcing and Outsourcing service, highly respected in the international market.
The working and competing atmosphere in the units of Scavi has been very lively, in addition the company has received more and more orders. This really is a positive signal for Scavi in the early months, predicting a successful year for production and business performance. In the context of the global economic crisis, Scavi with great resilience was able to bring sales up by 30 percent compared to the previous year.
Regarding long-term goals, it can be seen with the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) and many other free trade agreements are about to be signed, the next stage is an opportunity for Vietnam to reach out into the international arena of numerous favourable conditions, but not less challenges. Before new opportunities as well as challenges, Scavi has set the goal to continue to focus on lingerie market, aiming for the No. 1 position in the world market, based on the policy of providing high added value services to customer corporations from Europe, North America and Japan. Especially, the company will increase investment in new technologies and human resources of over 10,000 employees in Vietnam and Laos. Specifically, the company will strengthen industrial investment in Scavi - Hue, constructing and developing Industry & Management Centre of Central region, providing mainly for North America and Japan. At the same time, Scavi will also invest to expand premises, manpower and technology at operating factories in Bien Hoa, Bao Loc, Da Nang and Vientiane. This is the “Southern zone” providing for European, Canadian and Vietnamese markets. Regarding markets, after finishing the testing phase of small-scale distributors in domestic market, Scavi will invest in long-term in distribution program in Vietnam with high-end product line Corele Paris of Corele International Group and Francesca Mara of Scavi Joint Stock Company. The company’s goal is to build and expand its market share of men, women and children underwear with a nationwide store chain.
“The direction of specialisation and differentiation with competitive tool of innovation and has brought us positive results in commercial, manufacturing organisation and business activities. The success Scavi achieved today is the logical outcome of tireless dedication and effort of all Scavi staff. In return, this has become the source of spiritual encouragement for Scavi employees to continue proving themselves in the next stage of the journey,” said Ms Lan proudly.
