Local firms urged to invest in Myanmar beauty services

 Monday, May 22,2017

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnamese investors may team up with Myanmar hotels to provide beauty services in the Southeast Asian nation, said Ha Thi Thanh Binh, general secretary of the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.

Speaking a press conference on the Beauty Connect Expo Myanmar 2017 in HCMC on May 18, she said many international hotel brands are already present in Myanmar but beauty services like hair salons and spas are in short supply there despite growing demand.

She urged Vietnamese investors to grasp this opportunity to partner with hotels in Myanmar to provide their salon and spa services in the coming time.

But she warned electricity and water prices, import tariffs on cosmetics, and costs of cargo transport between the two nations are prohibitively high.

Leong Ann Suan Jeremy, editor-in-chief of Beauty Cosmedica, noted investors must make payments for two years of space rent in advance, which are very high.

The event will be held at the Rose Garden Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar from December 8 to 12.
