The number of enterprises that have been granted a science-technology certificate is on the rise. Certificates were issued to six new firms in 2017, and the figure has increased fivefold over the first eight months of 2018.

Since its establishment in 2005, Savipharm has adapted a science and technology model to research and manufacture products and has trained its staff in applying science and technology to boost the company’s development.

On receiving the certificate, enterprises can enjoy many incentives. They receive an income tax exemption for the first four years of operation and a 50% tax reduction for the following nine years. They are also entitled to a corporate income tax rate of 10% for a period of 15 years starting from their first year of generating taxable income from science and technology operations.

According to the department, science and technology enterprises are also exempt from registration fees for home ownership and land use right certificates, pay the lowest land and infrastructure rental fees, receive consulting and training services from incubation facilities and get priority access to labs and incubation facilities to conduct scientific research.

Enterprises operating in the technology and information and communications technology areas make up a high proportion of the firms obtaining science-technology certificates.
