Vietnam willing to welcome Indian investment

AsemconnectVietnam - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met on January 24 representatives of Indian groups and businesses as part of his activities during the India visit for the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit and the celebration of the 69th anniversary of Indian Republic Day.

At meetings, PM Phuc praised the fine relations between Vietnam and India and pledged to offer favorable conditions for Indian investors to do business in Vietnam.
During his meeting with Power Tata CEO Anil Sardana, the Prime Minister called for a long-term investment plan in Vietnam and its Long Phu 2 Thermal Power plant to operate in time without environmental pollution.
Sardana affirmed his group’s commitment to expanding production and business projects in Vietnam in a long-term and sustainable manner. Tata also hopes to receive the PM and relevant agencies’ support for their investment projects, he told his guest.
Talking with Managing Director of L&T Subrahmanyan, PM Phuc greatly valued L&T’s strength and investment projects in many countries, including Vietnam.
He asked the firm to undertake shipbuilding projects in Vietnam with the best quality and lowest costs. The Vietnamese government leader welcomed its technological transfer in Vietnam and called for its cooperation in opening a ship building factory in the country.

Vietnam wants to build solar and wind power factories, and encourages foreign enterprises, including L&T, to partner with local companies to implement these projects, the cabinet leader said.

Subrahmanyan informed PM Phuc about L&T’s successful cooperation projects with Vietnamese businesses and agencies, especially in building patrol boats for the coast guard force. 
Meeting with India Oil and Gas Corporation General Director Narenda K. Verma, the Prime Minister called for broader cooperation in exploration and exploitation as well as downstream processing.
During discussion with Sudheer Pandharpurkar, Chairman of vDoIT, which specializes in e-solutions in education, healthcare and e-government, the Prime Minister expressed interest in projects on new rural areas and smart village models to be expanded to Thai Binh, Dong Thap and Binh Thuan provinces
The PM appreciated vDoIT’s implementation of the Smart Village project in Vietnam, noting that if the project is successful, it will help improve rural residents’ living standards.
