PM Phuc hosts New Zealand Trade Minister

 Tuesday, May 9,2017

AsemconnectVietnam - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on May 8 hosted a reception for visiting Trade Minister of New Zealand Todd McClay in Hanoi, during which he highlighted the Minister's Vietnam visit as a contribution to promoting the bilateral trade links in the time ahead.

PM Phuc urged the two sides to continue their close and effective coordination to promote common benefits within APEC and other multilateral economic links, thus making the APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting set for May 20-21 in Hanoi and related Ministerial Meetings successful.
He welcomed the viewpoint of New Zealand on complying with international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of Sea (UNCLOS), dealing with the East Sea-related issues, contributing to maintaining peace, stability and development in the region.
He said he hopes that two-way trade will increase in the future, with more and more investors from New Zealand will come to Vietnam.

He also extended thanks to the Government of New Zealand for assisting Vietnam in training human resources and expected that the country will continue its support in the field.

Minister Todd McClay said he hopes Vietnam- New Zealand ties will grow and flourish, and will reach the goal of doubling the bilateral trade value in the coming time.
He suggested his ministry and Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade need to discuss proper measures to actualize the target.
