Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh will co-chair the 15th meeting of the Viet Nam-Cambodia Joint Committee on Economic, Culture and Scientific and Technological Cooperation and the 9th Conference on cooperation and development of Vietnamese and Cambodian border localities on March 15 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The meeting of the Joint Committee aims to evaluate the outcomes of cooperative agreements which were approved at the 14th meeting in October 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City and exchange specific measures to promote the cooperative mechanisms between the two Governments.
The meetings are organized in the context that Viet Nam-Cambodia friendship and cooperative relations are enhanced and delegations exchanges are maintained.
The bilateral cooperative mechanisms between ministries, agencies, and localities and people-to-people exchanges have been upheld effectively.
Viet Nam was the third largest trade partner of Cambodia with the two-way trade turnover of US$3 billion and the fifth biggest investor in Cambodia in 2016.
The Conference on cooperation and development of Vietnamese and Cambodian border localities will review achievements in their cooperation over the recent years and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between localities in the future.
Since the eighth conference in October 2015, the multi-lateral cooperation between border localities have been promoted, contributing to consolidating and developing the two nations’ relationship, economic development and people’s lives.
The two sides have closely coordinated in border management, ensuring security for border marker planting and preventing trans-border crimes, smuggling and trade fraud.
