Shrimp exports expected to increase 3.3% this year
Friday, October 28,2016AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of shrimp are expected to increase by 3.3 per cent year – on – year this year to $ 3.1 billion, according to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (Vasep).
The country’s shrimp exports reached $ 318.3 million in September, up by 4.4 per cent over the same month of last year.
China, the U.S, EU and South Korea were leading the list of the country’s shrimp export markets in the period. The exports of seafood to those markets increased by 30.3 per cent; 15.2 per cent; 6.9 per cent and 12.3 per cent, respectively year – on – year.
However, the exports of shrimp to Japan slightly decreased by 4.2 per cent; and to several other small markets decreased from 0.5 to 27.6 per cent.
Vietnam’s exports of shrimp to the U.S reached nearly $ 85 million in September and $ 520.5 million in the first 9 months of this year.
According to Vasep, the country’s exports of white leg shrimp was up by 11 per cent while the exports of tiger shrimp was down by 3 per cent year – on – year.
