Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and materials in first 11 months

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam imported 232 million USD worth of animal feed and materials in November of this year, decreased by 30.91 per cent over the previous month and by 26.83 per cent in value over the same month of last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In November, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and materials from Argentina reached 74 million USD, decreased sharply by 47.53 per cent compared with the previous month and by 45.72 per cent over the same month of last year. The figure brought the country’s total imports of animal feed and materials from Argentina in the first 11 months of this year to over 1.3 billion USD, accounted for over 40 per cent of the total market share.

It was followed by the U.S with over 58 million USD in November, down by 0.97 per cent month – on – month but up by 2.16 per cent over the same month of last year. The figure brought the country’s total imports of animal feed and materials from the U.S in the first 11 months of this year to over 568 million USD, down by 8.99 per cent year – on – year.
Meanwhile, the imports animal feed and materials from China reached over 12million USD in November, down by 8.94 per cent month – on – month and by 21.38 per cent year – on – year. The total imports of animal feed and materials from China in the first 11 months of this year reached over 165 million USD, decreased by 20.3 per cent year – on – year. 

In the first 10 months of this year, Vietnam spent over 3.3 billion USD on importing animal feed and materials, down by 4.1 per cent over the same period last year.
In the period, the country’s imports of animal feed and materials from Canada reached 47.4 million USD, increased sharply by 151.96 per cent; from Australia 21 million USD, up by 24.52 per cent; from Argentina – over 1.3 billion USD, up by 18.57 per cent; and from Thailand – over 101 million, up by 8.56 per cent year – on – year.

Wheat:
 Vietnam’s imports of wheat were estimated at 234,000 tons worth of 54 million USD in November and over 2.5 million tons worth of over 666 million USD in the first 11 months of this year, decreased by 31.75 per cent in quantity and by 41.41 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2018.
The leading wheat import markets in the first 10 months of this year were Australia with the market share of 35 per cent; Russia – 31 per cent; Canada – 11 per cent; the U.S – 9 per cent; and Brazil – 3 per cent.
In the first 11 months of this year, the imports of wheat from Russia decreased by 68.36 per cent in quantity and 67.44 per cent in value year – on - year, while the imports from Australia decreased by 16.16 per cent in quantity and 12.75 per cent in value; from the U.S – down by 11.47 per cent in quantity and 8.68 per cent in value; and from Canada – down by 11.09 per cent in quantity and 9.15 per cent in value. Meanwhile, the imports from Brazil increased by 9.17 per cent in quantity and 38.81 per cent in value over the same period last year. 

Soybean:
 Vietnam’s imports of soybean reached 114,000 tons worth of over 46 million USD in November and over 1.5 million tons worth of 608 million USD in the first 11 months of this year, decreased by 10.36 per cent in quantity and by per 16.42 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2018.
Corn: The imports of corn reached over 1.3 million tons worth of 271 million USD in November and over 10 million tons worth of over 2.1 billion USD in the first 11 months of this year, increased by 13.58 per cent in quantity and 10.43 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2018.
Argentina and Brazil were the leading corn import markets of Vietnam in the first 11 months of this year with 63 per cent and 34 per cent of the total market share, respectively.
