Vietnam ranks 38th in the list of 241 UK trading partners, and ranks 25th  in the list of 233 countries exporting to the UK. In ASEAN, Vietnam ranked second (after Thailand) in terms of exports to the UK, accounting for 0.8 per cent of total import turnover.

Generally in the first 10 months of 2019, Vietnam's total exports of goods to the UK market reached 4.82 billion USD, up by 1.83 per cent over the same period of 2018. In particular, phones and accessories accounted for the largest market share of 39.33 per cent of total exports, reaching 1.69 billion USD.

The strongest growth included three categories: transport vehicles and spare parts, up by 238.3 per cent to reach 108.87 million USD; electric wires and cables increased by 227.57 per cent to 15.32 million USD; paper and paper products increased by 213.79 per cent to 6.25 million USD.

Many commodity groups with export value of over 100 million USD in the first 10 months of the year were: seafood products reached 238.09 million USD; wood and wooden products - 260.72 million USD; textiles and garments reached 648.01 million USD; footwear of all kinds reached 533.37 million USD; computers, electronic products and components reached 231.94 million USD; machinery, equipment, tools and other spare parts reached 225.23 million USD.

Iron and steel was the strongest item in the 10 months of 2018, with a decrease of 58.43 per cent in volume to 28,154 tons and a decrease of 60.57 per cent in value to reach 21.48 million USD. The exports of cashews, coffee, and pepper also fell by over 10 per cent, but they also accounted for a relatively small market share.
