Trade exchange between Vietnam and Brazil in first seven months

Meanwhile, the imports of goods from Brazil in the first seven months of this year increased sharply. So the country had trade deficit in trade exchange with Brazil.
Vietnam’s exports of goods to Brazil in first seven months of 2019
According to the preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's exports of goods to Brazil in July of 2019 reached 180.69 million USD, up by 0.21 per cent compared to June of 2019 and up by 20.18 per cent compared to July of 2018. The figure brought the country’stotal exports of goods to Brazil in the first 7 months of 2019 to 1.21 billion USD, up by 2.6 per cent over the same period of 2018.
The main items exported by Vietnam to Brazil in the first seven months of this year included telephones and components, accounting for 7.37 per cent of the total with the export turnover of 455.33 million USD, but compared with the same period, it was down by 0.66 per cent. In July of 2019 alone, the country’s exports of goods to Brazil reached 68.31 million USD, up by 2.66 per cent compared to June of 2019 and up by 45.33 per cent compared to July of 2018.
Meanwhile, the country’s exports of machinery and equipment to Brazil in the first 7 months of this year reached 122.87 million USD, up by 22.01 per cent compared to the first 7 months of 2018. Particularly in July of 2019, the country’s exports of goods to Brazil reached 11.89 million USD, down by 45.73 per cent over the previous month and by 18.29 per cent compared to July of 2018.
The next were computers, electronic products, shoes, textile fibers, means of transport and spare parts, etc.
In general, from the beginning of the year to the end of July 2019, Vietnam's exports of most items to Brazil market saw growth, those items accounted for 57.8 per cent of the total. The exports of iron and steel to Brazial increased by 2.8 times (ie, increasing by 178.6 per cent) in volume and by 2.7 times (or by 166.9 per cent) in value, although the average export price decreased by 4.2 per cent to only 905.54 USD per ton, equivalent to 5,500 tons, worth of over 5 million USD.
Particularly in July of 2019, Vietnam also exported to Brazil 43 tons of iron and steel of all kinds, valued at 49,600 USD with the average export price of 1155.35 USD per ton, down by 98.81 per cent in volume and 98, 47 per cent of the value, but the average price increased by 28.92 per cent compared to June of 2019. If compared with July 2018, the figure increased by 95.45 per cent in volume and 109.09 per cent in value, and the average price increased by 6.98 per cent.
In the opposite direction, Brazil sharply reduced its imports of textile and footwear materials from Vietnam with a turnover of 6.31 million USD, down by 31.78 per cent over the same period of 2018. In July of 2019 alone, the country’s exports of textile and footwear materials to Brazil decreased by 5.55 per cent compared to June of 2019 but increased by 17.02 per cent compared to July of 2018 to reach 563,800 USD.
Vietnam’s imports of goods from Brazil in the first seven months of 2019
Vietnam got 280.9 million USD of deficit in trade exchange with Brazil in the first 7 months of 2019, increased sharply by 17.8 times compared with the first 7 months of 2018.
According to the statistics of the General Department of Customs, in the first 7 months of 2019, the import-export turnover between Vietnam and Brazil reached over 2.72 billion USD, up by 13.7 per cent over the same period last year; in which Vietnam’s exports of goods to Brazil reached 1.22 billion USD (up by 2.6 per cent year – on - year), while the imports from this market reached 1.5 billion USD (up by 24.6 per cent). Thus, Vietnam's trade deficit with Brazil was nearly 280.9 million USD in the first seven months of this year, (a very strong increase of 17.8 times compared to the first 7 months of 2018).
Vietnam exported to Brazil mainly: phones of all kinds and components; machines and equipment; means of transport and parts; computers, electronic products and components; footwear; fibers, textile fibers.
In contrast, Vietnam mainly imported from Brazil several items such as maize (379.66 million USD, up strongly by 302.4 per cent, accounting for 25.3 per cent of the total import turnover of this market); ore and minerals (over 268.66 million USD, accounting for 17.9 per cent, up by 80.5 per cent); soybean (177.02 million USD, up by 22.9 per cent, accounting for 11.8 per cent); cotton (165.39 million USD, down by 2.8 per cent, accounting for 11 per cent); animal feed and materials (141.96 million USD, down by 51.9 per cent, accounting for 9.5 per cent).
The country’s imports of corn from Brazil increased sharply over the same period in 2018. Beside, several other items also saw increase in export turnover, such as: food products reached 0.72 million USD, up by 73 per cent; wheat - increased by 41.4 per cent, reaching 23.3 million USD; automobile components and spare parts - increased by 40.6 per cent, reaching 4.9 million USD; iron and steel - increased by 32.2 per cent to 86.77 million USD.
In contrast, Vietnam sharply reduced imports of some commodities from Brazil, namely: ordinary metal - dropped by 74.5 per cent, reaching 1.51 million USD; chemicals - down by 34.3 per cent, reaching 10.67 million USD; animal feed and raw materials - decreased by 51.9 per cent, reaching 141.96 million USD; vegetables and fruits - down by 38 per cent, reaching 2.14 million USD.
