Exports of rice increased slightly in first seven months
Monday, September 16,2019AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 7 months of 2019, Vietnam exported 3.95 million tons of rice worth of 1.71 billion USD.
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in July of 2019, Vietnam’s rice exports decreased slightly by 0.1 per cent compared to June of 2019 and decreased by 1.4 per cent in value, reaching 598,619 tons worth of 261.68 million USD.
The rice export price in July of 2019 also dropped by 1.3 per cent compared to June of 2019, reaching 437.1 USD per ton and also decreased by 12.4 per cent compared with July of 2018.
On average, in the first 7 months of 2019, the country exported 3.95 million tons of rice, worth of 1.71 billion USD, up by 0.7 per cent in volume but down by 14 per cent in value compared to the first 7 months of last year. The rice export price averaged 432.5 USD per ton, down by 14.7 per cent over the same period of 2018.
Vietnam's rice exports to the Philippines accounted for nearly 37 per cent of the total rice export volume of the country, with 1.46 million tons, equivalent to 589.35 million USD, and the average price of 402.9 USD per ton, up by 218.8 per cent in volume and 171.4 per cent in turnover but down by 14.9 per cent in price over the same period of 2018.
Chinese market accounted for 8 per cent of the total volume and 9.3 per cent of the total value, with 318,146 tons, equivalent to 159.45 million USD, down by 65.7 per cent in volume and 67.5 per cent in value, and the export price decreased by 5.4 per cent to 501.2 USD per ton.
Malaysia market accounted for 9.8 per cent of total volume and 8.7 per cent of total turnover, reaching 387,493 tons, equivalent to 149.37 million USD, up by 14.6 per cent in volume but down by 3.3 per cent in turnover; and the price decreased by 15.6 per cent, reaching 385.5 USD per ton. Meanwhile, the exports of rice to the Ivory Coast market accounted for nearly 9 per cent of the total volume and value, reaching 344,195 tons, equivalent to 147.12 million USD, and the average price reached 427.4 USD per ton, up by 124.7 per cent in value and increased by 64.5 per cent in turnover but decreased by 26.8 per cent in price over the same period last year.
The exports of rice to Southeast Asia market in general accounted for 48.9 per cent of the total volume and 45.6 per cent of the total turnover, reaching 1.93 million tons, equivalent to 779.83 million USD, up by 19.5 per cent in volume and 2.5 per cent in turnover over the same period last year.
In the first 7 months of this year, rice exports to most markets increased in turnover compared to the first 7 months of 2018; in which, there was a strong increase in the following markets: Senegal - increased the most by 30.7 times in volume and 22.2 times in turnover (reaching 1,443 tons, equivalent to 0.74 million USD); Brunei - increased 17 times in volume and 15.5 times in turnover (reaching 5,895 tons, equivalent to 2.45 million USD); Poland - increased by 223.8per cent in volume and 193.3per cent in turnover (reaching 4,646 tons, equivalent to 2.45 million USD); the Philippines - increased by 218.8per cent in volume and 171.4per cent in turnover (reaching 1.46 million tons, equivalent to 589.35 million USD). However, the exports to Indonesia decreased sharply by 97per cent in both volume and turnover, reaching 24,633 tons, equivalent to 10.91 million USD.
