In March of 2019, th country’s exports of goods to Japan reached 1.68 billion USD, increased by 62.25 per cent compared to February 2019 and by 2.71 per cent compared to March of 2018.

The TOP 10 main export items to Japan in the first quarter of this year were industrial goods, of which textiles and garments accounted for a larger proportion of 19.4 per cent with the export turnover of 897.58 million USD, up by 4.93 per cent over the same period last year. In March of 2019, the country’s exports of this item to Japan reached 320.42 million USD, increased by 78.37 per cent compared with February of 2019 and  by 0.37 per cent compared with March of 2018.

Means of transport and spare parts ranked second with the export turnover of 636.16 million USD, increased by 9.58 per cent over the same period last year. In March of 2019, the country’s exports of means of transport and spare parts reached 228.1 million USD, increased by 49.79 per cent compared with February of 2019 and by 5.9 per cent over the same month of 2018.

The next were the machinery and equipment, aquatic products, wood and wood products, all kinds of shoes, computers, etc.

In general, in the first quarter of 2019, the exports of almost all items to Japan increased compared with the same period last year, of which the exports of fertilizer increased sharply by 6 times in quantity, twice in average export price and 12.5 times in value, or by 509.6 per cent; 106.41 per cent and 1158.26 per cent to 8,100 tons; 460.42 USD per ton and 3.74 million USD, respectively.

On the other hand, Japan’s imports of cassava and cassava products from Vietnam decreased sharply by 99.58 per cent in volume and 98.46 per cent in value over the same period last year, despite the average export price increased by 3.3 times (or 270.29 per cent) to 886.07 USD per ton.
