Exports of crude oil and imports of petroleum in 11 months of 2018

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 11 months of this year, Vietnam earned US$2.04 billion from exports of crude oil but also spent $7.24 billion on importing of petroleum, showed the figures of the General Department of Customs.

Exports of crude oil decreased over 42 per cent
Vietnam’s exports of crude oil reached 3.61 million tons worth of US$2.04 billion in the first 11 months of this year, down by 42.4 per cent in quantity and by 21.5 per cent in value over the same period last year, according to the figures of the General Department of Customs.

The average crude oil export price in the first 11 months of this year reached $566.4 per ton, increased sharply by 36.4 per cent.
China was the country’s biggest crude oil export markets in the first 11 months of this year with 1.07 million tons worth of $609.71 million, fell by 51.4 per cent in quantity and 33.8 per cent in value over the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the exports to Thailand decreased by 7.8 per cent in quantity but increased by 25.6 per cent in value to 854,086 tons worth of $491.47 million; to Australia – up by 33.2 per cent in quantity and 77 per cent in value to 690,907 tons worth of $390.01 million.

Besides, the country also exported crude oil to Japan – 348,569 tons worth of $192.63 million, down by 55 per cent in quantity and 40 per cent in value; to the U.S – 132,671 tons worth of $68.42 million, down by 40 per cent in quantity and by 24.6 per cent in value; to Singapore – 135,244 tons worth of $72.49 million, down by 75 per cent in quantity and 66.5 per cent in value; to South Korea – 162,561 tons worth of $100.81 million, down by 31 per cent in quantity and 0.7 per cent in value; to Malaysia – 79,185 tons worth of $42.27 million, down by 84.9 per cent in quantity and 80 per cent in value.

Imports of petroleum reached US$7.24 billion
Vietnam imported 10.7 million tons of petroleum worth of US$7.24 billion in the first 11 months of this year, showed the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

The average petroleum import price in the first 11 months of this year reached $676.8 per ton, up by 25.4 per cent over the same period last year.
Malaysia was the country’s biggest petroleum import market in the period with 3.12 million tons worth of $1.97 billion, up by 34.8 per cent in quantity and 81.2 per cent in value year – on – year.

In the first 11 months of this year, Vietnam’s imports of petroleum from South Korea reached 2.38 million tons worth of $1.76 billion, down by 11.2 per cent in quantity but up by 5.2 per cent in value over the same period last year.
The imports of petroleum from Singapore in the first 11 months of this year decreased sharply by 44.3 per cent in quantity and 27.6 per cent in value to 2.27 million tons worth of $1.46 billion.

Meanwhile, the imports of petroleum from China increased sharply by 50.8 per cent in quantity and 101.4 per cent in value year – on – year to 1.33 million tons worth of $927.96 million; from Thailand – down by 18 per cent in quantity but up by 7.8 per cent in value to 1.31 million tons worth of $898.97 million; and from Russia – rocketed by 239 per cent in quantity and 430.3 per cent in value to 99,214 tons worth of $90.43 million.
