DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices decreased by 700 VND on May 2, 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area fell by 700 VND to VND132,000 – VND133,200 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND132,700/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND132,000. Robusta coffee decreased to VND132,000 per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND132,400 per kg - VND132,500 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND132,600 - VND132,700 in Dak Nong; to VND132,400 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND132,400 - 132,500 per kg in Gia Lai.
The General Statistics Office said that coffee exports in April 2024 reached 170,000 tonnes, valued at more than 644 million USD, down 10% in volume and 4.1% in turnover compared to the previous month; but increase 3.9% in volume and increase sharply 61.5% in turnover compared to the same period in 2023.
In the first 4 months of this year, coffee exports reached 755,696 tonnes, valued at more than 2.57 billion USD, an increase of 5.4% in volume and a sharp increase of 57.9% in turnover compared to the same period in 2023.
The average export coffee price in April 2024 increased to 3,791 USD/tonne, up 6.6% over the previous month and up 55.4% over the same period in 2023. Overall in the first 4 months, the average export coffee price reached 3,402 USD/tonne, an increase of 49.7% over the same period in 2023.
The Dak Lak September 2 Import-Export Company Limited (Simexco) has pioneered in building coffee growing zones following the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), it announced on April 25.
The event demonstrated Simexco's strong commitment to sustainable coffee production, contributing to environmental protection and increasing the value of Dak Lak coffee products in the international arena. Nguyen Tien Dung, Director of Sustainable Agricultural Development at Simexco, said that the main requirements of the EUDR include ensuring no deforestation or degradation, having spatial data using multi-temporal satellite images, and ensuring the legality and traceability of product origin from production, exploitation, harvesting to transportation, processing, and export.
