DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices fell by 1000 VND on March 14, 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands fell by 1000 VND to VND92,500 - VND94,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

The maximum price for pepper fell to VND94,500 per kg in Dac Lac and Dak Nong while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND92,500 per kg. Farmers in Dong Nai sold pepper for VND92,500 per kilogram, in Binh Phuoc province for VND94,500 per kilogram and Ba Ria – Vung Tau for 94,500 VND.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, in February 2024, Vietnam exported 13,596 tonnes of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper was 12,027 tonnes, and white pepper of 1,569 tonnes. Total export turnover reached 54.8 million USD, of which black pepper was 45.9 million USD and white pepper of 8.9 million USD.
Compared to last month, export volume decreased by 22.5% and turnover decreased by 21.9%. The average export price of black pepper in February reached 3,826 USD/tonne, down 0.6% and white pepper reached 5,655 USD/tonne, up 6.5% compared to January 2024.
The US is the main export market of Vietnamese pepper, accounting for 29.3% reaching 3,980 tonnes, however compared to the previous month, it decreased by 16.6%. Olam Vietnam, Nedspice Vietnam, Pearl Group, Lien Thanh and Phuc Sinh are typical export enterprises in February 2024.
Vietnam imported 1,751 tonnes of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper of 1,712 tonnes and white pepper of 39 tonnes. Total import turnover reached 6.4 million USD, compared to the previous month, import volume decreased by 30.2%.
Brazil and Cambodia are the two countries that mainly export pepper to Vietnam, accounting for 54.1% and 23.4%. Olam, Lien Thanh and Son Ha Spices are the main importers reaching 773 tonnes, 271 tonnes and 35 tonnes.
