Vietnam's exports of goods to Laos and Cambodia in January of 2024

Meanwhile, the country’s export turnover to Cambodia reached 448.8 million USD, up by 5.5% over the previous month and up by 22.6% over the same period last year.
Leading items exported to Laos in the first month of 2024
In January of 2024, Vietnam - Laos trade turnover increased by 75.8% over the same period in 2023, reaching 174.4 million USD. Of which, Vietnam's exports to Laos reached 56.8 million USD, an increase of 104.4% over the same period of 2023.
The main export items include all kinds of petroleum (up by 276%); iron and steel products (up by 176.6%); means of transport and spare parts (up by 118.7%); other machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts (up by 83.6%); iron and steel of all kinds (up by 18.2%); ceramic and porcelain products (up by 79.4%).
In the opposite direction, Vietnam's imports of goods from Laos reached 117.6 million USD, up by 64.7% over the same period of 2023.
Last year, the bilateral trade turnover between Laos and Vietnam reached 1.6 billion USD. Previously, the Asia-Africa Market Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) - commented that Vietnam's the exports to Laos in the coming time may continue to grow based on the positive trade relationship between the two countries.
Among them, items that Vietnam can increase exports to Laos include several products such as food, personal items, and household appliances; industrial and construction goods such as construction materials, machinery and industrial equipment; agricultural products and processed foods; etc.
Main product groups exported to Cambodia in January of 2024
In recent years, the economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia has achieved very meaningful achievements. Accordingly, Vietnam is one of Cambodia's leading trading partners.
In 2023, the country’s exports of goods to Cambodia reached 4.8 billion USD, down by 15.9% over the same period last year. Items with export turnover growing in 2023 compared to the same period last year were wood and wood products increased by 50%; glass and glass products increased by 15.8%.
In January of 2024, the country’s export turnover to Cambodia reached 448.8 million USD, up by 5.5% over the previous month and up by 22.6% over the same period last year. Textiles and garments were the leading product group in terms of export turnover to Cambodia. In January 2024, the export turnover of this product group reached 74.9 million USD, up by 14.5% compared to the previous month and up by 60.4%, accounting for 16.7% of the total proportion. The next was the exports of iron and steel of all kinds, reaching 68.5 million USD, accounting for 15.2% of the total proportion.
