Vietnam's exports to leading global economies in January of 2024

AsemconnectVietnam - In January of 2024, Vietnam's exports of goods to leading global economies such as the US, China and Japan all grew positively.

Of which, Vietnam's exports to China in January of 2024 reached 4.555 billion USD, an increase of 17.28% over the same period of 2023.
Vietnamese goods exports to the US market in January of 2024 reached more than 10 billion USD, up by 10.1% over the previous month and up by 63.4% over the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Vietnam's goods exports to the Japanese market in January of 2024 reached more than 2.2 billion USD, up by 11.4% over the previous month and up by 44.9% over the same period last year.
Vietnam's exports to the US in January of 2024
According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, the export turnover of Vietnamese goods to the US market in January of 2024 reached more than 10 billion USD, up by 10.1% over the previous month and up by 63.4% over the same period last year.
More than 50% of Vietnam's export value to the US was high-tech products (consumer electronics, smart phones), garments and footwear, the rest were other products such as furniture and agricultural products.
In January of 2024, the leading export turnover was computers, electronic products and components, reaching 1.7 billion USD, an increase of 73.3% over the same period last year, accounting for 17.8% of the total export proportion.
The next was the group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts, reaching 1.56 billion USD, up by 25.5% over the same period last year, accounting for 15.5%. And then was all kinds of phones and components reaching 1.39 billion USD, accounting for 13.8% of export proportion.
Several products saw increase in export turnover in January of 2024 compared to the same period last year, including cameras, camcorders and components increased by 102.2%; paper and paper products increased by 43.2%; and rice increased by 82.8%.
The US is currently leading Vietnam's export markets. Meanwhile, Vietnam has become a major trading partner of the US and an important link in the supply chain of many goods for the US market.
Among Vietnam's exports to the US, agricultural products, aquatic products, furniture, decorations, etc. occupied a very important position because these are strong product groups of Vietnam and the US that have great demand.
Vietnam's key products exported to the Chinese market in January of 2024
In January of 2024, Vietnam's exports to China reached 4.555 billion USD, an increase of 17.28% (equivalent to an increase in turnover of nearly 700 million USD) compared to the same period of 2023.
In January, many groups of goods exported to China achieved turnover from 100 to hundreds of millions of USD such as computers, electronic products and components; phones and components; cameras, camcorders and accessories; vegetables; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts, etc.
Except for the decline in turnover of phones and components (down by more than 950 million USD), most key export product groups to this neighboring market have grown quite well.
Notably, China continued to be Vietnam's largest fruit and vegetable export market. In January, fruit and vegetable exports to this market reached 306 million USD, up by 121% over the same period last year and accounting for 62.45% of the country's fruit and vegetable export turnover.
Vietnam's exports of goods to Japan in January of 2024
According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in January of 2024, Vietnam's export turnover to the Japanese market reached more than 2.2 billion USD, an increase of 11.4% compared to the previous month and increased 44.9% compared to the same period last year.
With a population of more than 126 million people, Japan is a market with large import and consumption demand for products: fish and products processed from fish, shrimp, eel, meat, meat products, soybeans, cereal products, fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, coffee, etc.
Meanwhile, Vietnam is considered a country with strengths in the above products and has the ability to supply well to the Japanese market.
Leading export turnover in January of 2024 were: textiles and garments reached 386.6 million USD, accounting for 17.3% of export proportion. The next was means of transport and spare parts reaching 307.3 million USD, an increase of 21% compared to the previous month, accounting for 13.7%; then the group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts with 237.3 million USD, accounting for 10.6% of export proportion.
Some products achieved increased export turnover in January of 2024 compared to the previous month, including phones of all types and components increased by 31%; cashew nuts increased by 53.4%; ores and other minerals increased by 12 times.
Highly appreciating the potential for trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, especially related to agricultural and food products, according to experts from Japan, Vietnam's agricultural and food products are increasing accepted by Japanese consumers.
To create a push for Vietnamese agricultural and food products to penetrate deeply into the Japanese market, the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan recommends that businesses not only pay attention to quality and price but need to actively strengthen and strongly enhance the image and brand of Vietnamese products.
