Despite difficulties, Ninh Binh get a trade surplus of over 354 million USD

AsemconnectVietnam - In 2023, Ninh Binh had a trade surplus of over 354 million USD, although it is not a large number but reflects the great efforts of both the government and the province's business community.

Exports to Asia account for 61.7% of proportion
According to data from Department of Industry and Trade of Ninh Binh province, the province's export turnover in 2023 is estimated to reach 3,178.2 million USD, an increase of 0.01% over the same period last year. Some products with high export growth include: Cement and clinker estimated at 694.4 million USD, equal to 133.5% of the year plan; automobiles and auto components are estimated at 127.5 million USD, reaching 132.1% of the year's plan; aluminum and other metal mixtures 95.5 million USD, 112.4% of the year's plan...
Regarding export market, according to assessment from Ninh Binh Department of Industry and Trade, due to the complicated political and economic situation in the world, the province's export market has many fluctuations. In 2023, Asian market continue to lead with a turnover of 1,962 million USD, accounting for 61.7%, down 10.4% compared to 2022; The Americas reached a turnover of 884.6 million USD, accounting for 27.8%, an increase of 72.9% - also only market with positive growth of Ninh Binh in 2023; Europe reached a turnover of 246.7 million USD, accounting for 7.8% and down 30.7% compared to 2022; Australia reached a turnover of 53.1 million USD, accounting for 1.7% and down 27.3% over the same period; Africa reached a turnover of 31.8 million USD, accounting for 1% and down 33.1% compared to 2022.
Enterprises in the province have exported goods to over 80 countries and territories around the world, many enterprises have participated in the global value and supply chain.
Processing and manufacturing industry is still the commodity group accounting for the largest proportion of Ninh Binh's export commodity group last year with an estimated turnover of nearly 3,124.4 million USD, equal to 97.2% of the year's plan.
Next is the agricultural products group, estimated at 48.9 million USD, exceeding 70.4% of the year's plan. The province's processed agricultural products continue to be exported to demanding markets such as Japan and the EU and markets of Eurasian Economic Union countries. Although still affected by general economic crisis worldwide, this product group continues to maintain high growth, up 83.7% over the same period in 2022.
Handicrafts group is estimated at 4.9 million USD, most of which are exported to the US and European markets.
Regarding imports, in 2023 Ninh Binh imported 2,824.2 million USD of products to serve automobile manufacturing activities, export processing of clothing, footwear, electronic components, phone accessories, machinery, equipment, factories...
Thus, in 2023, Ninh Binh has a trade surplus of over 354 million USD. Although it is not a large number, it is a great effort of the government and businesses in the province to overcome difficulties and stabilize production and business.
Set challenging goals
Regarding import and export management, according to Ninh Binh Department of Industry and Trade, right from the beginning of the year, the Department has closely followed export plan assigned by the province, issued an Export Development Plan, which focuses on supporting businesses. Market information, dissemination, introduction, clarification of benefits from free trade agreements, timely provision of information on trade defense measures of importing countries; Update and notify changes in import-export and customs clearance policies from major trading partners.
Coordinate with functional units of Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize 7 in-person and online conferences to create conditions for businesses to have useful information to access the market as quickly as possible. Conduct surveys and work to grasp export situation at enterprises and at the same time perform well the work of statistics and reporting on the import and export situation of enterprises in the province.
The Department also advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue an Action Plan to implement Goods Import-Export Strategy until 2030; Established an interdisciplinary inspection team to check production capacity and grant textile and garment manufacturer codes (MID) to 4 enterprises exporting to the US market; Creating bilingual clips and introductory publications The Department also conducted appraisals and issued 6,197 sets of C/O, of which 100% were done electronically via the Internet.
With results achieved in the past year, in 2024 Ninh Binh is determined to achieve the target of 3,250,000 million USD in export turnover, an increase of 2.8% compared to the estimate for 2023. This target is really a challenge with business community and Ninh Binh provincial government because the world market situation in 2024 is forecast to have many unpredictable developments.
To achieve this goal, the Department will advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue a Decision promulgating Operating Regulations of the Provincial Steering Committee for International Integration. Coordinate with functional units of Ministry of Industry and Trade to increase dissemination and provision of market information, organize trade promotion delegations and specialized international exhibitions to survey the market to find partners and friends, enhancing exchanges, connections and cooperation between businesses and promoting the province's exports to markets that have signed FTAs with Vietnam. Organize a conference to disseminate Vietnam - Israel Free Trade Agreement (VIFTA) for import-export businesses in the province.
Organize, promote and introduce annual program "National E-commerce Week and Vietnam Online Shopping Day" to stimulate online shopping and non-cash payments. Coordinate with Department of E-Commerce and Digital Economy - Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize a training conference to bring typical products and OCOP products to the e-commerce platform for officials of businesses, cooperatives, production and business establishments in the province. Survey on the situation of e-commerce applications in Ninh Binh province to serve the target of number of traders having e-commerce transactions.
Continue to well implement national and local industrial promotion programs, supporting industry development programs and national and local trade promotion programs in 2024.
