 Friday, February 23,2024

AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, Vietnam’s domestic live pig prices were steady at VND54,000 - VND58,000/kg, according to Kinhtedothi.

Compared to Yesterday, prices remained unchanged in the North and the Central but increased slightly in the South.
Price of live pigs in the North
Pig prices in the North are traded in the range of 56,000 - 57,000 VND/kg. Among them, traders in Lao Cai, Nam Dinh and Ninh Binh are purchasing live pigs at the same price of 56,000 VND/kg.
The remaining localities maintain the price of live pigs at 57,000 VND/kg.
Price of live pigs in the Central-Central Highlands
Pig prices in the Central-Central Highlands region are traded in the range of 55,000 - 58,000 VND/kg.
Among them, traders in Lam Dong and Binh Thuan are purchasing live pigs at the highest price in the region of 58,000 VND/kg.
The provinces of Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa, and Dak Lak are trading live pigs at the price of 55,000 VND/kg.
Binh Dinh province increased slightly by 1,000 VND/kg to anchor at 56,000 VND/kg.
Pig prices in the South
In the southern region, the price of live pigs does not fluctuate much, fluctuating between 54,000 - 58,000 VND/kg. Particularly in Vung Tau, it increased by 1,000 VND/kg, currently anchored at 58,000 VND/kg. The remaining localities maintained live pig prices unchanged compared to yesterday.
Before the Lunar New Year, traders purchased pigs at low prices, especially below production costs due to smuggled pigs, affecting domestic pig consumption. Traders who previously bought pigs in Dong Nai to supply to the Western provinces said they now focus on buying smuggled pigs and no longer buy domestic pigs, according to VTV.
According to the Dong Nai Province Livestock Association, smuggled pigs flooding through border gates have increased domestic supply. In particular, the price of smuggled pigs on the market is cheaper, causing domestic pig prices to be forced down, causing farmers to suffer heavy losses.
