In January 2024, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports earned 5.14 billion USD

AsemconnectVietnam - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in January 2024, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 5.14 billion USD, an increase of 79.2% over the same period last year.

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the first month of 2024 increased, reaching 5.14 billion USD thanks to the increased contribution of all product groups.
Specifically, forest product exports reached 1.49 billion USD, an increase of 72.5%; seafood reached 730 million USD, an increase of 60.8%; agricultural products reached 2.71 billion USD, an increase of 93.8%; livestock reached 36 million USD, up 3.5%; Production input reached 177 million USD, an increase of 49.2%.
Regarding the market, export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to all markets increased. Of which, exports to the US were 1.18 billion USD (up 93.6%); Africa 104 million USD (up 185.4%); Asia 2.52 billion USD (up 86.3%); Europe 532 million USD (up 38.2%) and Oceania 78 million USD (up 100.9%).
Export value to the Chinese market accounted for 23%, an increase of 106.9%; The United States accounted for 20.8%, an increase of 95.9% and Japan accounted for 7.4%, an increase of 47.5%.
In opposite direction, import turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 3.72 billion USD, a fairly high increase of 45.1% due to increase in all imported commodity groups. Specifically, agricultural product imports reached 2.2 billion USD, an increase of 41.1%; livestock products reached 300 million USD, an increase of 46.8%; seafood reached 250 million USD, an increase of 33.9%; Forest products reached 253 million USD, an increase of 100.7%; production input reached 701 million USD, an increase of 47.3%; salt reached 4.3 million USD, an increase of 39.8%.
Also according to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in January 2024, prices of most products tend to increase compared to November 2023 due to high demand near Lunar New Year, but are relatively stable and alternating increases and decreases compared to December 2023.
Except for 02 items that continue to increase, including: Tea buds and tea hooks (19-30%); bell pepper (33%); Some products increased slightly such as: black pepper (5%); coffee (4-9%); regular rice (over 6%); Cat Chu mango (8%); red flesh dragon fruit (3.4%); white-fleshed dragon fruit (4.5%); raw shrimp (4%); raw fish (5-6.7%).
Livestock products alone tend to decrease from last months of 2023 until now, such as live pigs (10.5%), live cows (2.5%), colored feather chickens (2.3%) and industrial chickens (6.8%).
In general, supply of agricultural products is abundant, ensuring consumption during the Lunar New Year; prices do not fluctuate much, even some items decrease due to people changing their consumption habits; This year's demand will increase compared to the Lunar New Year in 2023.
