Lao Cai: Export turnover through Kim Thanh border gate reached nearly 549 million USD

Goods exported through Kim Thanh border gate, Lao Cai are mainly dragon fruits, bananas, cassava, all kinds of wood, lychee, durian...Out of which, high-value product is durian, which has increased, leading to an increase in export turnover crossings through Kim Thanh border gate.
In 2023, number of enterprises participating in import and export activities through Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No.II (Kim Thanh border gate) is 670 enterprises, an increase of 13 enterprises compared to 2022. Total export - import turnover reached over 1,055 million USD, an increase of 49% compared to 2022 (nearly 706 million USD).
Out of which, export turnover reached nearly 549 million USD, an increase of 181% compared to 2022 (over 195 million USD). Key export products are dragon fruit, bananas, cassava, all kinds of wood, lychee, durian...
Import turnover reached over 506 million USD, down 1% compared to 2022 (nearly 511 million USD). Key imported goods are agricultural products (vegetables, tubers, fruits of all kinds), chemicals, fertilizers, plastics, plastic products, machinery and mechanical equipment, electricity...
Lao Cai province also aims to strive for import-export turnover through border gates in the area to reach 4.5 billion USD in 2024.
Previously, from January 8, 2023, the Chinese side restored immigration activities through Lao Cai – Ha Khau international border gate, the immigration demand of border residents on both sides continuously increased. In particular, from March 15, 2023, the Chinese side officially restored travel activities, the number of people entering and exiting through Lao Cai – Ha Khau international border gate increased sharply. Currently on average every day, there are about 7,000 visitors entering and exiting the country.
On July 27, 2023, immigration activities were officially restored at the Lo Co Chin (Vietnam) - Lao Kha (China) border and Muong Khuong (Vietnam) - Kieu Dau (China) sub-border gate.
Import and export activities through Kim Thanh international border gate are stable; Chinese market demand for agricultural products increased. In 2023, import and export activities of goods, especially agricultural products, through international land border gates were vibrant; the value of imported and exported goods through the border gate increased by 39% compared to the same period in 2022; In particular, durian products were officially exported through the border gate for the first time, contributing significantly to increasing value of imported and exported goods.
Total value of import, export, purchase, sale and exchange of goods through border gates in Lao Cai province reached nearly 2 billion USD; Revenue from taxes and fees through border gates reached nearly 1 trillion VND...
