 Thursday, November 16,2023

AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND66,000 to VND69,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.

In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND70,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND67,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND69,500 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND67,500 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND68,500 per kilogram.
The market is also waiting for Vietnam's harvest next year, expected to begin after the Lunar New Year 2024. However, there are also many predictions that this year's crop output will decrease sharply due to reduced planting area and low productivity in many areas because people do not fertilize carefully when the profit of pepper trees is low.
Therefore, to maintain the number one position and gradually affirm the Vietnamese pepper brand, we have no choice but to move towards sustainable production, in which organic pepper production is focused. respect and encourage development. In fact, the above orientation has been implemented for many years in some key growing areas, and the trend will spread to other farming areas across the country.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, from 2020 onwards, people have gradually become aware of the dangers of developing pepper production against natural laws. Along with the development of science and information technology, natural and organic production forms have gradually been accepted by farmers and have initially shown positive signs.
Applying technical advances in developing organic agriculture and circular economy on pepper with the main solution being input control and strict compliance with production processes to reduce production costs. Thoroughly promote the advantages of natural agrochemical soil conditions that are already very suitable for pepper growing, plus the rich tradition and experience in pepper production of farmers.
Good production habits are gradually formed such as concentrated pepper production by region, making the most of available organic fertilizer sources, thoroughly applying the principle of "returning to the land", protecting natural enemies, preserving natural fertilizers biodiversity, and protecting natural ecosystems. Pepper cultivation according to forest ecological simulation ensures 3 layers of trees including cover, middle-layer shade trees (intercropped trees), and high-layer trees.
