AsemconnectVietnam - On Monday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND67,000 – VND70,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.

In July 2023, domestic pepper price increased by 500 VND/kg. The domestic market was mixed, decreasing at the beginning of the month and recovering positively at the end of the month.
Ending last week, the International Pepper Community adjusted the export price of Vietnam's pepper after a long period of stability. Vietnam black pepper price traded at 3,500 USD/tonne of 500 g/l grade, and 3,600 USD/tonne of 550 g/l grade; white pepper price was at USD5,100/tonne, up 1.96%.
In the first 15 days of July 2023, Vietnam exported 7,039 tonnes of pepper, of which black pepper reached 5,980 tonnes and white pepper reached 1,059 tonnes. Total export turnover reached 25.9 million USD. Olam, Nedspice and Pearl are the main exporters, export volume reached 787 tonnes, 701 tonnes and 468 tonnes, respectively. In the first half of July, exports to China reached 788 tonnes.
According to data of the General Department of Customs, exports in the first half of July 2023 reached 7,063 tonnes of pepper of all kinds, with a turnover of $26.05 million, bringing the export of the first 6.5 months of the year to 159,715 tonnes, up 20.39% in volume and down 14.75% in value over the same period last year. The average export price of pepper in the period reached 3,688 USD/tonne, up 2.08% compared to the average export price of June 2023.
Thus, exports in the first half of July 2023 continued to decline, in which consumption from the Chinese market was low. Positive signals occurred at the end of July 2023 when dealers moved to increase buying. In the world market, India decided to ban the export of some food and agricultural products, causing the pepper market to increase from mid-July 2023.
Besides, the news that the harvest is taking place in Brazil and Indonesia is not positive to help the market recover. The picture of pepper production this year has gradually become clear, with a decrease in forecast in countries such as Brazil, Indonesia and India; increased in Malaysia and Cambodia.
